Gavin Hamer, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT, graduated from Otago School of Physiotherapy in Dunedin, New Zealand. In 1991 he was awarded the Diploma of Manipulative Therapy and completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012 from Des Moines University, Osteopathic Medical Center. Dr Hamer is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) Dr Hamer’s clinical experience comes from over 30 years as a clinician and educator in New Zealand, Canada and the United States. His business experience ranges from owning private practices in both New Zealand and Canada and also directing outpatient orthopedic clinics in the USA in addition to owning a continuing education company. Dr Hamer’s role as National Director of Education includes coordinating the educational requirements of the FYZICAL organization. He is also the director of the American Physical Therapy Association’s FYZICAL Orthopedic Residency Program, in addition to teaching the five course orthopedic series allowing the therapist to become a Certified Orthopedic FYZICAL Therapist/ Assistant.
