The Miami Hurricanes used to face their toughest competition on Monday through Friday on the Greentree practice fields. In the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s, the games on Saturdays were the easy part. Former Miami Hurricane Brian Monroe, who was on the team from 2003 to 2007, joins host Alex Donno to talk about the past, present and future of Canes football. Brian has attended spring practice in 2023 and gives his opinion on the work being done under head coach Mario Cristobal.

Brian weighs in on Miami’s new coaches. He was on the team during Kevin Beard’s final year as a player and describes Miami’s receivers coach as a “coach on the field” back when KB played. Monroe has had a chance to sit down with new defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and new offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. He believes both are capable of improving their units. He expects that they are willing to adapt to their talent rather than try to force square pegs into round holes.

Brian shares his early impressions of the 2023 quarterback room of Tyler Van Dyke, Jacurri Brown and Emory Williams. He weighs in on the wide receiver room, expecting big things from players like Colbie Young and Xavier Restrepo next season. Brian, a former Hurricanes and NFL punter, gives his take on new Australian punter Dylan Joyce.
