Mia Funk not only paints and writes, but she interviews accomplished creators as part of her Creative Process Exhibition, founded at the Sorbonne and traveling to 40 leading universities worldwide.
In this, my third show from Paris, I talked with Mia about her own work, the exhibition, and interviewing. We also discussed the Notre Dame catastrophe - which we witnessed firsthand together - her own creative process, both as it relates to her writing and to her painting, and much more.
Mia Funk is an artist, author, and interviewer. Mia’s portraits of writers and artists appear in many public collections, including the U.S. Library of Congress, Dublin Writers Museum, Office of Public Works, Centre Culturel Irlandais de Paris, and other museums and culture centers. Her paintings of Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud won the Thames & Hudson Pictureworks Prize and were exhibited in Brussels for Bacon’s centenary, in Paris at the American University, as well as at international arts festivals in Europe. Mia has received many awards and honors, including the Prix de Peinture from the Salon d’Automne de Paris and has exhibited at the Grand Palais, also in Paris. She served on the National Advisory Council of the American Writers Museum 2016-17 and is on the advisory board of the European Conference for the Humanities. She is also the founder of The Creative Process, an exhibition and international educational initiative traveling to leading universities around the world.
Next show Author Nathalie Galli shares her new memoir, The Girl Who Said No: A Search In Sicily.
