Amy Gulick is our guest on the Outdoor Adventure Series today.
Amy is an Outdoor Enthusiast, Photographer, and Award-Winning Author. She is the author of two books, "Salmon in the Trees: Life in Alaska's Tongass Rain Forest.”, and her newest book, "The Salmon Way: An Alaska State of Mind.

Amy uses her images and words to help people understand the importance of nature to humanity and all beings.
Topics We Discussed

  • What makes you come alive?
  • Why are stories powerful?
  • What keeps you going?

Aha Moment(s)

  1. With my first book, "Salmon in the Trees: Life in Alaska's Tongass Rain Forest," when I explain to audiences the ecological connection between salmon and forests and I see their faces light up and the invisible light bulb over their heads blink on.
  2. With my current book, "The Salmon Way: An Alaska State of Mind," when I explain to audiences the difference between "resources" and "relationships," and hear them say that "this changes my entire way of thinking."
  3. To see my books in the hands of decision-makers, and then at some point, those decision-makers go on to do the right thing and conserve the places, species, and cultures featured in my books.

Insight2go
"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

~ Howard Thurman
