EP 105 The REAL History of Postpartum Mental Health
Manage episode 359167942 series 2909895
Postpartum Depression was not recognized in the Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders until 1994.
Since the 16th century, mental health has had a long and dark history. Women have been at the forefront of experimentation, isolation, and even execution.
This history has created fear, shame, and a societal stigma around mental
health.
What has changed in the last few decades does not erase 1000’s
of years of mistreatment.
Today, I'm sharing with you all a clip from our Perinatal Mental Health Certificate training where we covered the history of mental health as it relates to women and postpartum.
