A musician who is writing powerful music that stands up for freedom and what is right, while working and raising a family. Rick tells us how he likes to create music that means something to himself and others while staying away from a political agenda. He wants music that will speak to you and be something you can listen to in your car with your entire family.
We discuss how important it is to invest in yourself no matter what goal you have. To continue to plant seeds, move forward, and be true to yourself. Success is measured in different ways, but it's always important to look back and say you tried something or you stood up for something even if it doesn't result in high levels of fame. Rick says "If you can change people's lives and you can make money doing what you love, then you've made it in music."
What's his advice for the next generation? "People will judge you no matter what, so just be yourself." It's easy to hide behind a computer screen or a social media handle, so most of the time you don't know them. Don't let those people dictate your attitude and forward movement. Stay positive, find your tribe, and stay true to yourself.
