Feeling like we belong is a core human need. When we feel connected and part of a community it creates a sense of belonging which transforms energy, morale and spirit to make things happen. Those teams who feel like they are part of something bigger than their individual selves has greater resilience to handle the blips and create the wins. When someone knows their presence will be missed, there is more motivation and reason to show up and contribute. If someone feels forgotten, ignored or that they don't belong, then there is less commitment because there is less sense of responsibility to be there. When new people are welcomed, taking time to find out someone's name and some information about them creates a sense of belonging really quickly.
