A Complimentary Pair - Conlin McCabe and Kai Langerfeld - Men's Pair (M2-) Canada Rowing - Episode 1
Manage episode 294123026 series 2927868
Growth for achievement often isn't a transformation that we go through. More accurately, we often experience a confirmation of who we should be and how we should act.
In the first episode of Row Row Tokyo, let's get to know the Canadian Men's Pair, Conlin McCabe and Kai Langerfeld, training for Tokyo 2020. We dive into:
- How sport is an escape from the drudgery of manual labour and blue-collar existence.
- The power of partnerships and how the sport really helps you peel off the layers of the onion and truly connect with another person with another human being.
- The training methodologies - the differences between Mike Spracklen, Martin McElroy, and Dick Tonks.
We're looking forward to seeing what Conlin McCabe and Kai Langerfeld can deliver on the games of Tokyo 2020.
Get to Know the Athletes:
Calm and determined, Kai Langerfeld grew up in British Columbia and is the son of York Langerfeld and Olympic Rower who competed in 1976. As a young man, his roofing career gave way to education at UVic, where he trained as a rower. His Olympic commitment was made while working at Costco, watching the rotisserie chicken cook.
A fierce competitor with an unmatched power supply, Conlin McCabe grew up in Brockville, Ontario and had a mother who loved club rowing. After his experience at the University of Washington, he competed at the London Olympics, winning silver in the men's eight. His Olympic journey has given him the opportunity to compete, allowing him to attack and achieve goals.
