“Your audience? They are not on ONE platform… I challenge you to take a deeper dive into where your audience spends their time online .”

— Dee Boswell-Buck

On March 19th, 2021, Instagram went down for an hour. In March 2019, both Facebook and Instagram went down for over 24 hours.

The big question: what effect did this have on small businesses and entrepreneurs?

Let’s talk about the perils of putting all of our marketing eggs into one basket. How many platforms are you finding engagement on?

If you are a small business owner who has maybe gotten a little too comfortable using just one platform and are curious to know about how other platforms online can increase your visibility and boost your sales, then this episode is for you!

You don’t have to have an account on every single platform, don’t worry. But I do recommend that all business owners and entrepreneurs should be using at least two different platforms to market their business — and ideally platforms that are not owned by the same company.

You may think that your audience only hangs out on one platform, but that is almost never the case. Broadening your use of social media and building a presence on two or more platforms will not only help you continue your marketing during the next outage, but reach new prospects that you would have missed otherwise!

For instance, you’ll find me on Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Remember: don't believe the hype. Your audience IS on more than one platform. As we speak, people are searching for what you do on Google and on their preferred social media.

So, let’s give them something to tweet about!

In this episode, I look at optimizing your use of social media, Google My Business, Facebook Ads, and your email list. And I even share an example of the remarkable marketing success of a client who doesn't have a real website!

It’s all starting now, so press play and get ready to discover:‌ ‌

  • Effective CTAs that drive your followers to connect to you on AND off of your socials
  • When it may be time for you to start investing in Google or social media ads
  • How Google My Business can help you meet your business goals

Highlights:‌ ‌

  • 01:28 The Error 58 outage
  • 05:12 The importance of having a strong mailing list
  • 05:57 How many platforms do you engage on?
  • 06:59 Find your audience where they are
  • 08:03 My own target audiences
  • 08:52 Include strong CTAs
  • 10:32 Set up your Google My Business
  • 13:28 Case study: “Jump into my DMs”
  • 16:08 Use online Ads
