Now more than ever we need to create a sense of belonging, right?
So you can access a new level of performance.
But how do you do that?
Phil grew up in Wales...
Luckily a mentor at school called Malcome Jones took him under his wing.
Have you ever had a great mentor?
You see...
Working with the right mentors was pivotal for him when playing for Llanelli, Wales and working in elite coaching for over 35 years.
At 18 years old Phil got called up to play for Llanelli, and at the time he was surrounded by great players.
He said.."There was a responsibility that when you put on that shirt you were there to represent people."
After years of playing for Llanelli.
He remembers having a strange experience one day whilst working in the police.
He had a premonition that he would be playing international rugby for Wales.
At the time he thought, "how strange that was."
Things were about to get interesting.
The England and Wales game got canceled for foot and mouth.
But just after that, he got a call to play for Wales!
The premonition seemed to work!
The power of visualization, right?
So...
In the space of 4 weeks, he played for Wales, The Barbarian and Llanelli in the cup.
But his luck started to change later on.
He got his cheekbone smashed against England...
...and then stopped getting selected as much which had an emotional impact on him.
How did he rebuild from that experience?
Phil went on to gain 46 caps for Wales, was the head coach for Lanallie, Cardiff Blues, Namibia (World Cup).
And now Leeds Tykes and elite leadership coaching with corporates.
