A very important conversation about research-based ways to integrate traditional and complimentary treatment approaches (e.g., acupuncture, meditation, cleaning up one’s environment of toxins, etc.). Dr. Gary’s approach dovetails with Dr. John’s 100% in that it is all based on science — research studies. A large part of this is how low oxygen levels, put the brain into panic mode which triggers the release of stress hormones (i.e., cortisol, adrenaline, etc.) leading to hypertension, shortened lifespan, diabetes, and obesity to mention a few. And sleep apnea is one of the biggest offenders leading to hypoxia (debilitatingly low oxygen levels), impacting 5% of the population.
Do you have sleep apnea? Discover a quick and easy way to score your sleep apnea!
To what extent is neuroinflammation behind your depression? Chronic fatigue syndrome? Post-treatment Lyme syndrome? Sleep disorders? Chronic pain? Post COVID syndrome? Obesity? Diabetes? Alzheimer’s? Bipolar? Parkinson’s? Multiple sclerosis? All of these have been shown in research studies to have neuroinflammation in common!
How does incorporating a more complete integration of mind and body into healing impact our health span?
What if the reason you are in pain is because your brain is inflamed? Then what?
How do we best blend traditional medicine with complimentary approaches such as acupuncture, meditation and others?
Dr. Gary Kaplan

Gary Kaplan, DO, is the founder and medical director of the Kaplan Center
for Integrative Medicine, and author of Total Recovery: A Revolutionary New Approach to Breaking the Cycle of Pain and Depression. A pioneer and leader in the field of integrative medicine, Dr. Kaplan is one of only 19 physicians in the country to be board-certified in both Family Medicine and Pain Medicine. Dr. Kaplan is passionate about using multidisciplinary and alternative medicine strategies to address underlying chronic conditions. His forthcoming book, Why You Are Still Sick, is set to be released in June 2022.
He is board-certified in Medical Acupuncture and has worked with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to establish acupuncture as a medically effective treatment for a range of chronic pain problems.
In 1985, Dr. Kaplan created the Kaplan Medical Center to offer patients suffering with chronic pain and illness a more effective model of medical care. The Center’s physicians, nurses, psychotherapist, dietitian and physical therapists collaborate closely on patients’ progress to ensure the best outcome for each patient. This coordinated, multidisciplinary approach has proved to be highly effective for patients suffering with complex and long standing medical problems.
Dr. Kaplan’s newest book, Why You Are Still Sick, is set to be released in June 2022.
