This is Part 1 of 2. Kelly was living in the Czech Republic for four years, where she met her now husband with a plan to return to the states and start traveling out west and around South America. Right before they headed back to the US, Kelly found out she was pregnant! They decided to move back to Kelly’s hometown of St. Louis and reassess their travel plans when the time felt right. A week before Kelly was scheduled for her induction, her mom got into a severe car accident. Kelly’s stress levels were very high during this time while taking care of her mother.
She planned for her induction the day before her due date. Everything was going okay but she felt every contraction, even with the epidural. When she felt ready to push, they wanted to confirm it was go time, but Kelly knew what her body needed to do. So she pushed! And pushed for a few more hours. She developed a fever during this time, and the doctors decided she needed a c-section after there was no progression. Her daughter, Stella, was finally here and they shared the most beautiful moment of calmness in a crazy room. After being in immense pain from her c-section, she was released and headed home with pain meds.
When her husband, her, and her daughter got home, she couldn’t do much and relied on her husband when she would randomly pass out. Her pain was 8, 9, and 10’s and after some time, decided to call herself an ambulance. The saddest image of her life will be her husband and her newborn daughter watching her being wheeled out to an ambulance.
