About Chris

Chris Cheatham is CEO and co-founder of RiskGenius, an InsurTech company using artificial intelligence (AI) to enable property and casualty insurance carriers to analyze policy language across two policies or an entire portfolio. He is responsible for the strategic direction of the product and the company.

Cheatham holds a BA in political science from the University of Kansas and a juris doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.

I am good at learning how things work, particularly insurance technology businesses, and then telling the story of the business so that consumers trust the brand and the solution. It kind of sounds like manipulation, but I only do it for solutions that I think are worthwhile.

I've been working in insurance since I was a baby lawyer in 2006. Then I launched a company that turned into RiskGenius, which was acquired by Bold Penguin, which was acquired by AmFam. And here I am. Incredibly, I am still convinced we are barely scratching the surface of insurance technology.

I don't really listen to rap music as much anymore (if you remember the Dr Dre days). Instead, it's Sturgill Simpson or the Tim Ferris podcast or something else random. I prefer to read -- books, unless I get sucked into social media. I've been reading Seth Godin since 2006. I'd love to chat about books if you have ideas for me.

During these days working at home, I've picked up road biking and I'm enjoying that very much. If you have tips for someone new to the sport, let me know. I also enjoy taking apart and putting my bike back together but I am not very good at it yet.
