Good morning, New York City! I'm your meteorologist with today's winter weather update.
Buckle up for a chilly roller coaster ride today! We've got a Winter Weather Advisory in effect, so let's break down what's coming your way.
This morning starts with a mix of rain and snow after 10 in the morning, transitioning to all snow after 4 in the afternoon. Temperatures will hover around 38 degrees Fahrenheit, but the wind chill will make it feel more like a frosty 25 to 30 degrees. Expect north winds around 8 to 10 miles per hour, and we're looking at a potential snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.
Tonight, the snow continues, mainly before 1 in the morning. Temperatures will plummet to around 18 degrees Fahrenheit, with wind chills between 5 and 15 degrees. North winds will pick up to 15 to 17 miles per hour, and we could see an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow.
Martin Luther King Day looks mostly sunny but cold, with highs near 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect west winds between 14 to 16 miles per hour.
The rest of the week continues the winter chill. Monday night will be mostly clear with temperatures dropping to 11 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuesday brings partly sunny skies and a high of just 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
We've got a slight chance of light snow Tuesday night, and the rest of the week looks cold but mostly sunny, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
