Episode 2: How Safe is ASEAN for Women?
Manage episode 343979432 series 3223483
Although the region of Southeast Asia has several commitments on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), including the Joint Statement on Promoting WPS by ASEAN in November 2017 and by ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in August 2019, as well as ASEAN Women for Peace Registry in December 2018, there is still a concern on grounding the big agenda of WPS to the real feeling of women security and safety. The podcast begins with the sharing of H.E. Diedrah Kelly, the Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN of the WPS implementation in her country. Subsequently, in this episode, there are three experts sharing their experience on how safe is the region for women. Those experts are Deepa Barathii from International Labour Organization Asia Pacific, Aurora De Dios from Miriam College Philippines as well as member of the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) 2010-2015, and Ussa Lerdsrisuntad from Foundation for Women Thailand. The podcast is hosted by Fitriani, researcher at CSIS Indonesia.
