When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. We’re back for our February check-in after a few weeks to bask in the glow of Ohio State’s national championship season. But the news rarely sleeps when it comes to Buckeye football, so we’re back to get caught up on what’s going on. We start with our discussion of a new position in the government for former OSU coach Jim Tressel. “The Senator” is just a Lt. Governor (for now, at least), and it’s good to see the old ball coach finding productive things to do with his time. After Tressel talk, we dive into the changes on Ryan Day’s coaching staff since our last show. Did the Buckeyes make the best hires they could? We won’t know until we see how things shake out, but they were interesting additions. Some of the additions were merely promotions, and we’re interested to see how comfortable Day really is when it comes to Brian Hartline calling plays. Next up, we chatted about spring football starting up and the fact that changes are coming to the spring game...sorry, Spring Showcase. There’s a change right there! We follow that up sith some discussion about a potential expansion of automatic bids for the Big Ten and SEC. That right there is a slippery slope. Finally, we look at the former Buckeyes headed to the NFL Combine and which ones might miss particular drills or opt to showcase their talents at Ohio State’s Pro Day. There sure are a lot of Buckeyes heading to the Combine, so it’s a great year to watch it. We also touched on some former OSU assistant coaches and where their new jobs are, as well as a new number for a returning defensive back. We are in our monthly offseason schedule, but we could have more than one show a month depending on how much news there is. We will return to our weekly schedule in August, as camp opens and we get you ready for the 2025 Ohio State football season. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show. Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod . As always, thanks for listening! 0:20 — Tressel is Ohio’s Lt. Governor and Ryan Day has some new (and some promoted) coaches on his staff. 32:43 — Spring Showcase and practice talk and what’s the deal with automatic bids? 45:55 — Buckeyes headed to the NFL Combine, former OSU assistants have new gigs, and a number change for a defensive back.…

The college football season is over and the Buckeyes are the reigning champions after a thrilling 34-23 win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. It started and ended as a close battle, with a lot of OSU dominance in the middle. We look back at all the critical talking points, key plays, and notable statistics from the ninth championship in Ohio State history. We looked back at the players we picked to click and checked in on our score predictions, as we put a bow on a season that Buckeye fans will remember for a long time. After our game rewind, we hit the transfer portal news hard, with landing spots for Calvin Simpson-Hunt, Devin Brown, and George Fitzpatrick and another defensive lineman is headed out of town. We discussed Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith taking to social media to shoot down transfer rumors while Quinshon Judkins declared for the NFL Draft. We’re also going to see big returns on the defensive side of the ball with Sonny Styles and Davison Igbinosun not yet ready to leave Columbus. We also had some thoughts on former OSU quarterback J.T. Barrett being named the quarterbacks coach for the Chicago Bears. One thing we didn’t cover is the departure of Jim Knowles, as we recorded this episode at the same time the Buckeyes were celebrating their championship at Ohio Stadium on Sunday. So, if we reference Knowles during the show, we were operating under the assumption that no sane person would take a lateral move from Ohio State within the conference. We finished with a discussion of what 2025 might hold in store for the Buckeyes, with a lot of new faces in the starting lineup. We will return to our weekly schedule in August, as camp opens and we get you ready for the 2025 Ohio State football season. The Buckeyes have advanced to the ultimate game — the College Football Playoff championship game — after battling to a 28-14 win over a game Texas Longhorns squad that pushed them to the closing moments of the game. While Ohio State made things a lote more difficult than they needed to be through a parade of penalties and an early third-quarter turnover, Texas deserves a lot of credit for making it a four-quarter struggle. Ultimately, Jack Sawyer ascended to the pantheon of all-time Buckeye legends with a play for the ages to seal the win. We look back at the Cotton Bowl’s key plays and statistics, check in on our picks to click, and review our score preview from one of the best games of this year’s College Football Playoff. Following our game recap, we looked at Ohio State transfer portal news with two more current Buckeyes headed into the portal at season’s end. We also discussed Buckeye great Mike Vrabel’s new coaching gig and congratulate a pair of former Ohio State players for earning All-Pro honors in the NFL. Finally, we look ahead to Notre Dame. Ohio State will face a familiar face in former OSU linebacker Marcus Freeman, who coaches a Fighting Irish team that looks a lot like the 2002 national champion Buckeyes. They’ve got a strong defense, better-than-they-seem skill players, a quarterback who isn’t flashy but finds ways to get things done, and a team that won’t ever quit. Ryan Day will have to beat Tresselball to win a national championship on Jan. 20. We preview the matchup, select the players we think will perform well for Ohio State, and give our score predictions. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email . Ohio State was able to ring in the new year the right way, obliterating the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl to earn a place in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The Buckeyes opened the game white hot on both sides of the ball, carving up the Duck defense in just a few plays and harassing Dillon Gabriel when Oregon’s offense tried to get things going. It was a few plays from being a perfect game from Will Howard, Jeremiah Smith, TreVeyon Henderson, Jack Sawyer, Caleb Downs, Cody Simon, and company. We looked back at the quarterfinal matchup, gladly ate some necessary crow over our score predictions from last week, checked to see how our picks to click performed (spoiler: one of us picked both the offensive and defensive MVPs of the game), and broke down the game’s key plays. After our Oregon rewind, we discussed the other College Football Playoff games and bowl games involving Big Ten teams. The conference continues to show well against everyone else. SEC fans are quick to point out that it’s for no reason other than the games being meaningless, though. The B1G couldn’t possibly be having a good year, and there’s no way the SEC took a half step down in 2024, so just get that thought out of your head right now. After checking the scoreboard, we discussed some transfer portal news. It was completely up to date at the time we recorded, but since then the Buckeyes have added a linebacker and lost a running back. Life, especially in the portal era, comes at you fast. Finally, we looked ahead to Friday’s titanic tilt against Texas in...Texas. Yes, the road before Ohio State was stacked as much as it could be against the Buckeyes when this journey began, but that’s what you get for losing to Michigan. We checked out the Longhorns’ rankings and discussed Ohio State’s challenges before selecting our offensive and defensive picks to click and making our score predictions. It’s our final show of the 2024 calendar year, and it’s a doozy. We started it off by discussing the latest Ohio State transfer portal news, with the most recent incoming and outgoing names and what those transfers mean for the Buckeyes. After the portal talk, it’s time to walk through the other Big Ten results from the bowl games that have taken place since our episode last week. Rutgers kind of blew it, but Nebraska and USC took care of business in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff quarterfinal games in the middle of this week (which start tonight with Penn State facing Boise State). Oh, and we also talked a little about the Pop-Tarts Bowl because it was a lot of fun, lack of defense notwithstanding. Speaking of the Nittany Lions and the Broncos, we gave our thoughts on what we think will happen as the three “other” big games this week pare the CFP pool down to just four semifinalists. Finally, it was time to weigh in on Ohio State against Oregon on New Year’s Day. The Buckeyes will be out for revenge, but which OSU team will we see in the Rose Bowl? We talk about the offensive and defensive rankings in what looks to be a game that mixes physicality with skill on both sides, make our choices for our offensive and defensive picks to click for the Buckeyes, and give our final score predictions. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at SilverBulletsPod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show. Ohio State more than took care of business against the Tennessee Volunteers Saturday night in the first round of the College Football Playoff. Despite reports that the stadium was going to be half-filled with Tennessee fans, Buckeye fans showed out and were loud, spurring on an offense and a defense that clicked almost the entire 60 minutes. We opened this week’s show with a letter from a listener, and then discussed the Ohio State transfer portal news from the previous week. Had we recorded Monday night instead of Sunday afternoon, there would have been a lot more arrivals to discuss. As it is, we talked about two more departures and the landing spots of two previous Buckeye defectors. Following the Ohio State news, we talked about the other College Football Playoff matchups, what home field advantage meant in the first playoff games on campuses, and the lazy narrative of which teams do or do not “belong.” If wins and losses don’t matter because of schedules being weaker or stronger, we’re not sure how to address that, because teams must play their schedules. The solution to being left out, as always, is win your games. Finally, we broke down the 42-17 Ohio State win that could have been more lopsided against the Vols. The offensive line held up much better than expected, the play-calling was aggressive and inventive, and...well, where was this a couple of weeks ago? We checked in on our picks to click and our score predictions to see how well we anticipated things. We also touched on the broadcast, which at times seemed to be gaslighting us about how many Tennessee fans were among the 105,000 people in Ohio Stadium, and at times seemed to be painting many Ohio State fans as insane for suggesting the team’s head football coach should occasionally beat its greatest rival, especially when the Buckeyes have the much better roster. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show. It’s College Football Playoff game week, everyone, and we’ve got plenty to talk about. That includes some of the angst over the thought of Tennessee fans buying up some of Ohio State ’s student ticket allotment. Is this a big deal? How many could it possibly be? I guess we’ll find out on Saturday, but we’re not worried. We touched on a stupid bill that would make planting an opposing team’s flag in Ohio Stadium’s turf a felony. Why is this necessary? Who is asking for this (aside from a legislator trying to score points with OSU fans)? We didn’t spend much time on the topic, but it was still more than it was worth. Devin Brown is in the transfer portal...sort of. Brown declared he will enter the portal after Ohio State’s postseason run is over, so that time could come this weekend or stretch into mid-January (or somewhere in between). There are a lot of Big Ten teams in bowl games this year, and we went down the full schedule of those matchups, throwing in a few other games of interest along the way. We think the B1G will show well in the postseason, but in the era of opt-outs and transfer portal happenings, it’s never easy to predict. Finally, we turned our attention toward the Tennessee Volunteers. Our preview includes what we think Ohio State will have to do to get a win, which mostly consists of not letting preventable history from repeating itself. We also selected our offensive and defensive picks to click and made our final score predictions. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show. We start this week’s show with news and notes from Ohio State, including a brief look at the Buckeyes’ 2025 recruiting class. Although we don’t fancy ourselves as “recruiting guys,” there are still some conclusions we can draw from looking at Ryan Day’s latest class. We also touched on a few Ohio State players who chose to enter the transfer portal and some guys who were honored for having standout seasons in the Big Ten in 2024. The transfer portal decisions weren’t terribly surprising, and we didn’t even get to touch on Devin Brown, who made his announcement while we were wrapping up our recording. After the news segment, we discussed the Big Ten title game that pitted Oregon against Penn State. The Nittany Lions acquitted themselves well, but still didn’t play the Ducks as closely in Indianapolis as the Buckeyes did in Eugene. That didn’t matter much to the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. The final poll came out and the Buckeyes found themselves at No. 8. We talked about what we didn’t like about that decision, what we liked about other decisions, and then we broke down the bracket. Ohio State has a difficult road to the semifinals, and the committee did No. 1 Oregon no favors either with the way the bracket is set up. Let us know what you thought of our analysis of the CFP bracket as we look forward to seeing 12 teams in the postseason for the first time. This is not the podcast we wanted to have, but it’s the podcast we’ve got. We look back at a calamitous day filled with bewildering coaching decisions in Ohio State’s latest loss to That Team Up North, look back at our score predictions and our picks to click, and try to make sense of such senselessness. After our Michigan rewind, we look back at the other scores around the Big Ten to see how everyone else made out. It turns out Purdue did poorly again and now Ryan Walters is out as head coach. That’s hardly surprising after such a brutal season. Wisconsin failed to achieve bowl eligibility under Luke Fickell. Penn State took care of business against a bad Maryland squad. Rutgers rolled. The end of the season is always a time to look back on preseason predictions, and we took a look at how the Big Ten shook out compared to how we predicted it would. We were close on a lot of the final standings but also way off on a few. Finally, we discuss Ryan Day’s prospects for coaching at Ohio State beyond this season. Does it depend on a postseason run? Does it depend on a deep postseason run? Does his future depend on a natty? We discuss where Ohio State could even go from here if the Buckeyes move on from Day. We throw a few names around. Let us know what you think. Ohio State started slowly again, but the Buckeyes took care of the previously undefeated Indiana Hoosiers in a game we thought would be closer but could have been even more lopsided than the 38-15 score indicates. We broke down the game’s key moments, looked at the statistical data, checked in on our score predictions, and learned that all of our picks to click actually clicked. It was a comprehensive victory by the Buckeyes and it’s entirely possible that despite its accomplishments this year, Indiana might not be for real. Following our game recap, we looked around the rest of the Big Ten to check in on all the other scores, including a rivalry battle out in the City of Angels and Nebraska finally becoming bowl eligible. Wisconsin is left needing a win in a rivalry game of its own this weekend or the Badgers won’t be going bowling. Rutgers was a minute from victory and ended up losing. Minnesota threw a big scare into Penn State. Poor seasons for Purdue, Maryland, and Northwestern didn’t get any better over the weekend. Finally, we turned our attention to Hate Week. That Team Up North has played solid defense all season but the offense is a one-trick pony. We talked about TTUN’s statistical numbers on the offensive side of the ball, made our picks to click for The Game, and tried our best to predict the final score. [ Note: My apologies for the audio, as Chip sounded great and I did not. Unbeknownst to me, everything was running through my external laptop microphone, so I come off a bit echoey.] Ohio State didn’t come out of the gates convincing against the Northwestern Wildcats at Wrigley Field, but the Buckeyes eventually settled in and took care of business in the final road game of the regular season. The Buckeyes ultimately won comfortably but it took a couple of quarters and a huge Northwestern mistake to get things moving in the right direction. We break down the key plays and moments in the game, check our picks to click, and look back at our score predictions to see how we well we foretold the matchup in the Windy City. After our Northwestern rewind, we looked at the other matchups around the Big Ten this weekend, including a close one at Camp Randall that had the Oregon Ducks on upset alert for much of the afternoon. We also tell you which teams have arrived at bowl eligibility and discuss what USC needs to do to be more competitive in the conference. Finally, we looked ahead to a huge game against Indiana, which is not something we expected when the season started. Ohio State took care of business Saturday as the Buckeyes returned home and beat the Purdue Boilermakers 45-0 in the Horseshoe. Some old heroes (TreVeyon Henderson) and new heroes (Eddrick Houston) shone brightly, lots of backups played, some experimentation took place on the defensive side of the ball, and Carnell Tate continued his meteoric development in a decisive home victory. We checked to see how our picks to click fared, looked at our score predictions, and discussed all of the game’s key plays, talking points, and players. It was good to see an Ohio State team not struggle in the follow-up to a win over Penn State. After our game rewind, we went through the other scores from the weekend in Big Ten action. Rutgers stopped the bleeding at the expense of Minnesota, Michigan lost yet again, Indiana improved to 10-0, Penn State bounced back, Maryland gave Oregon more of a fight than expected, and who knows what to make of Iowa? Finally, we looked ahead to Ohio State’s trip to Chicago to face Northwestern in a baseball stadium. The Wrigley Field game still doesn’t tickle our fancy, but we are a couple of old men yelling at clouds. Money grab aside, the Buckeyes have one more week to handle their business before things get more difficult against Indiana and Michigan to close the regular season. A big game deserves a big podcast, so this week’s show is a little more supersized than usual. We apologize for nothing, because hey, no extra charge for you. (Not that we charge.) Ohio State went on the road for its second Top 5 matchup away from home this season and this one went better than the last one. The Buckeyes made nearly the same amount of mistakes at Penn State as they did at Oregon, but this time they came away with a win by a touchdown instead of a one-point loss. Many (including us) thought this might be Penn State’s year to get a win in the series, but the Buckeyes got some key stops from the defense and a massive game-ending drive to grind out the final five minutes of the clock. We break down all of the key moments of the game, check back on our picks to click, and see how our score predictions turned out (spoiler alert: we’re happy to say, the latter went poorly). After we wrap up our Penn State game discussion, we turn our attention to the other scores from around the Big Ten. Michigan lost again and remain short of bowl eligibility. Indiana finally trailed but ultimately destroyed the Spartans. Nebraska lost at home to UCLA to remain bowl ineligible. Purdue took Northwestern to overtime but then didn’t do anything else after that. Oh, and Wisconsin is bad again. Finally, we looked ahead to Purdue’s visit to the Horseshoe on Saturday. We look at which Boilermakers the Buckeyes will need to watch for, make our “picks to click” selections, and try again to predict the final score of the game. We got the Ohio State offensive line answers we were looking for, but that doesn’t mean they are the ones we wanted. The Buckeyes looked terrible up front without Josh Simmons and struggled offensively in a 21-17 home win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A few big plays wallpapered over a poor day running the football and Chip Kelly’s worst playcalling of the season. The Huskers played hard and it was almost enough, as the Buckeyes did not play like the angry team Ryan Day promised would take the field on Saturday. We break down the game, discuss all the key talking points, check our score predictions, and see if the Buckeyes we picked to click did just that. After our Nebraska rewind, we looked at the other games around the Big Ten. Oregon continues to roll, and the Wolverines and Spartans continue to save their worst moments for when they’re off the field. Oh, and Indiana won again. Finally, we looked ahead to Ohio State’s trip to face the Penn State Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. After what we saw on Saturday, we’re not feeling great about the Buckeyes, but perhaps they were just exhibiting their usual sleepy post-bye-week play or nearly fell victim to a trap game. Or maybe they’re just not good. One thing is certain: Penn State’s defense is less forgiving than Nebraska’s, so the offensive line must find some answers. We provide our score predictions and choose the Buckeyes we think could have big games on Saturday. We discuss. 38:22 - A walk through the weekend’s other scores from around the Big Ten. 51:56 - The Buckeyes travel to Happy Valley to take on Penn State’s formidable defense. But who will be under center for the Nittany Lions?…

With the Ohio State Buckeyes on their second bye week of the 2024 season, it provided a great opportunity for us to focus on some of the other teams around the Big Ten. With that in mind, we opened this week’s show with a trip around the other B1G results to see how everyone was doing. It was a bad weekend to be an Iowa Hawkeyes or a Michigan Wolverine — is there ever a good week to be a Michigan Wolverine though? — and the wheels seem to have come off for Rutgers. On the flip side, Michigan State notched an important win and Indiana looks as formidable as it has been in my lifetime. We discuss some of the key talking points. After looking around the conference and the country, we turned our attention toward the Buckeyes’ upcoming game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Huskers were humbled on Saturday and will be looking to bounce back with a much stronger defensive performance than they had against Indiana. Dylan Raiola, a former OSU quarterback commit, will no doubt feel like he has something to prove to Ohio State fans, even though it wasn’t the Buckeyes’ fault he decided to flip — not once, but twice. Raiola started the year strong but has not looked great the last two games. We made our score predictions and selected the players we thought might have good games on Saturday against Nebraska. We also looked at the Ohio State players who were named “Midseason All-Americans,” although we don’t agree that that’s actually a thing, and we had another black stripe removal to discuss. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. As always, thanks for listening! 0:21 - The Buckeyes were off over the weekend, but there was plenty of drama around the rest of the Big Ten. 33:01 - The Buckeyes get set to take on a Nebraska Cornhuskers team that just got humbled by Indiana — and a former OSU quarterback commit.…
