1 Modern-day Jonah story, 16 million Americans between 110 & 369 years old getting SSI checks?, British Prime Minister willing to put British troops in Ukraine
It’s Tuesday, February 18th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Kevin Swanson New Libyan Islamic rules could hurt Christians Please pray for the small Christian community in Muslim-majority Libya after the introduction of a Public Morality Protection unit, also referred to as the “ morality police .” Imed Trabelsi , a minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity , said there is “no space for personal freedom in Libya.” Women are particularly affected by the “morality” measures. Among restrictions on clothing, female students will be required to wear the hijab, and women will be banned from traveling without a male guardian. Barnabas Aid reports that Christians are among those who may be at risk of greater repression and more extensive application of the Islamic law. Most Christians are migrant workers. There is a small number of Libyan converts from Islam which could lead to a death sentence if discovered. Japan’s hurting economy The world’s third largest economy of Japan is not doing well. After nearly 30 years of recession, the Japanese yen has lost half of its value against the dollar since 2011 — now set at 151 yen per U.S. dollar . That’s up from 72 yen per U.S. dollar 13 years ago. Japan’s Gross Domestic Product languished in 2024, registering only a 0.1% improvement in 2024, much reduced from 2023. Japan’s real GDP has not improved since 1992. By contrast, China ’ s real Gross Domestic Product has improved 9-fold since 1992 and the real Gross Domestic Product for the United States has improved 3-fold since 1992. British Prime Minister willing to put British troops in Ukraine British Prime Minister Keir Stormer issued hawkish comments on the Russia-Ukraine war in an op-ed column published in The Telegraph over the weekend. Stormer said his country is “ready and willing” to put British troops on the ground in the conflict in the interest of “securing a lasting peace in Ukraine that safeguards its sovereignty for the long term.” U.S. State Department officials will be meeting with Russian diplomats in Riyahd , Saudi Arabia today to negotiate the potential end of the war. 16 million Americans between 110 & 369 years old getting SSI checks? Here in the United States, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency have identified 16 million Americans between ages 110 and 369 receiving checks or multiple checks from the Social Security Administration. Quite bizarre! According to gerontology wiki , there are only 32 living Americans over 110 years of age. In a separate X post , Musk wrote, “There are FAR more ‘eligible’ social security numbers than there are citizens in the USA. This might be the biggest fraud in history.” First generation immigrants use more welfare than native born citizens The Center for Immigration Studies reported last year that 54% of first generation immigrant households in the United States access welfare programs, compared to 39% of U.S.-born households. U.S. immigrants who are most dependent on socialism are those from Africa . 46% of these immigrants use three or more welfare programs, 37% of immigrants from South America use three or more welfare programs. But only 27% of Asians and 17% of European immigrants use three or more welfare programs. That compares with 29% of U.S. natives using three or more welfare programs. Numbers 24:22 reads: “You shall have the same law for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am the Lord your God. ” Trump and Obama at the top of last 5 presidents When Rasmussen asked Americans how they ranked the five most recent presidents , 34% thought Donald Trump was the best, followed closely by Barack Obama at 32%. The remaining three presidents were far behind: Bill Clinton at 12%, George W. Bush at 9%, and Joe Biden is in last place with just 4%. Under Trump, 50-fold decrease in illegal southern border crossings Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan took to X yesterday, informing the U.S. public that border encounters have dropped to 229 as of the last 24 hours . That’s down from 11,000 a day during the heyday of border crossings under the Biden administration. That’s a 50-fold decrease! Also, Homan noted that “Interior arrests by [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] have increased more than 137% under President Trump. Arrests of aliens with criminal convictions have doubled under President Trump.” Elon Musk cut $1.2 billion of waste out of Dept. of Education The Department of Government Efficiency , headed by Elon Musk , has just shut down another $373 million of Department of Education DEI training grants . One of those Diversity, Equity and Inclusion grants was set up to “engage in ongoing learning and self-reflection to confront their own biases and racism, and develop asset-based anti-racist mindsets.” The Department of Government Efficiency already terminated 89 Department of Education contracts amounting to $880 million. China’s Ne Zha 2 pagan movie earned $1.6 billion in 11 days China has now outstripped Hollywood in the major motion picture production business. The animated film Ne Zha 2 has become the highest grossing film in history — now at $1.6 billion after only 11 days of release, reports Variety . The hero in the film is a demon child, who attempts to redefine himself, and determine his own destiny in opposition to the fates. More pagan worldviews set within an eastern context. Ted Baehr ’s MovieGuide , a Christian movie review website, described the original 2019 Ne Zha movie as a film that should be avoided because of its inclusion of intentional blasphemy, evil, gross immorality, and its problematic worldview. Despite its visual appeal, no doubt the second Ne Zha film is just as bad, if not worse morally and theologically speaking, than the first one. Modern-day Jonah story And finally, here’s a true Jonah and the whale story! A kayaker in the Strait of Magellan off the coast of Chile was briefly eaten by a humpback whale , and promptly spit back out. Adrián Simancas’s father was close by filming the event. Canada TV contains the whole scene for any viewers interested which we have linked in our transcript today at www.TheWorldview.com . Jonah 3:1-2, 7, 9 reads that “Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish’s belly. And he said: ‘I cried out to the Lord because of my affliction, and He answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol, I cried, and You heard my voice. … When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord; And my prayer went up to You, into Your holy temple. … Salvation is of the Lord.’ So, the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.” Close And that’s The Worldview on this Tuesday, February 18th in the year of our Lord 2025. 1 Martyr’s death inspired Valentine’s Day, JD Vance slams Europe for violating free speech of pro-life Christians, 18-year-old Catholic woman escapes Pakistani Muslim man
It’s Monday, February 17th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Adam McManus 18-year-old Catholic woman escapes Pakistani Muslim man An 18-year-old Pakistani woman has been reunited with her Catholic family after six months of captivity, forced conversion to Islam, and coerced marriage to the Muslim who abducted her, reports Morning Star News . Huma Allah Ditta’s ordeal began when she failed to return home from her job at a call center in Lahore on June 28. Her distraught parents began a desperate search after police failed to lift a finger. On August 4 th , her parents discovered that she had been abducted by a Muslim man named Abdul Basit Butt. 2 Corinthians 4:4 says, “Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.” The Catholic mother said, “My husband and I decided to put this matter in God’s hands and started praying vigorously for our daughter’s return.” The couple’s prayers were answered on January 16th, when Huma managed to escape from Butt’s custody and was reunited with her family. JD Vance slams Europe for violating free speech of pro-life Christians Last Friday, Vice President J.D. Vance used a speech addressing European leaders at the Munich Security Conference in Germany to slam Europe for violating the free speech and religious rights of pro-life Christians, reports LifeNews.com . VANCE: “When I look at Europe today, it’s sometimes not so clear what happened to some of the Cold War’s winners. … Perhaps most concerningly, I look to our very dear friends, the United Kingdom , where the backslide away from conscience rights has placed the basic liberties of religious Britons, in particular, in the crosshairs. “A little over two years ago, the British government charged Adam Smith-Connor , a 51-year-old physiotherapist and an Army veteran, with the heinous crime of standing 50 meters from an abortion clinic and silently praying for three minutes. Not obstructing anyone, not interacting with anyone, just silently praying on his own. “After British law enforcement spotted him and demanded to know what he was praying for, Adam replied simply it was on behalf of the unborn son he and his former girlfriend had aborted years before. Now, the officers were not moved. “ Adam was found guilty of breaking the government’s new buffer zones law, which criminalizes silent prayer and other actions that could influence a person’s decision within 200 meters of an abortion facility. He was sentenced to pay thousands of pounds in legal costs to the prosecution.” Vice President Vance expressed disappointment that the United Kingdom had penalized so-called thought crimes. He warned European leaders against censoring pro-lifers. VANCE: “Now, I wish I could say that this was a fluke, a one-off, crazy example of a badly written law being enacted against a single person. But no, this last October, just a few months ago, the Scottish Government began distributing letters to citizens whose houses lay within so called ‘safe access’ zones , warning them that even private prayer within their own homes may amount to breaking the law. Naturally, the government urged readers to report any fellow citizens suspected guilty of thought crime. “In Britain and across Europe, free speech, I fear, is in retreat.” RFK, Jr. vows to implement Trump’s pro-life policies Last Thursday, February 13 th , Robert F. Kennedy, Jr . was confirmed in a 52-48 vote and sworn in as President Donald Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), reported The Epoch Times . Prior to that, during the Senate Health Committee hearing, Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri asked Kennedy about whether he would implement President Trump’s pro-life policies. Listen to their exchange. HAWLEY: “Under the first Trump presidency, HHS stopped new [ National Institutes of Health ] research that involved human fetal tissue from elective abortion. You said, ‘ Stem cell research today can be done on umbilical cords. You don’t need any fetal tissue.’ — which is correct. My question to you is, ‘Will you reinstate President Trump’s policy that ensures that no federal research and no federal tax dollars is conducted on fetal tissue taken from elective abortions?’” KENNEDY: “Yes.” HAWLEY: “Fantastic! Let me ask you just about Title X which prohibits the funding of the use of federal taxpayer funding for abortions or to flow to entities like Planned Parenthood that perform abortions or refer people to abortions. You were asked yesterday if you would support President Trump’s rule that says, ‘No Title X funding for those who perform abortions or refer people to abortions.’ I think your answer was, ‘Yes. You would reinstate that rule.’ I just want to be sure I’m right about that. KENNEDY: “Yes.” HAWLEY: “Fantastic! Last point that I have for you. On mifepristone, the chemical abortion drug , you said yesterday that you would study its safety. I think that’s good. I want to make an additional point here just about how the Biden administration changed the rules on mifepristone that I hope that you’ll take into consideration because you pointed out that we need to honor the wishes of voters in states and their right to set life policy. “The Biden administration’s rule on mifepristone, which they did after the Dobbs decision , means that in any state, including ones like mine [Missouri], where voters or state legislators say, ‘We don’t want abortion performed after a certain point,’ if the Biden administration rule on chemical abortion stands and you can mail in these abortion drugs without a doctor visit or referral, that means no state ban, no state decision, no voter decision is going to matter. We’re going to have a one-size-fits-all policy set here in Washington. I hope you’ll take that into consideration.” KENNEDY: “I will implement President Trump’s policies.” Valentine’s Day birthed through Christian martyr’s death And finally, have you ever wondered why we just celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 14 th , this past Friday? Well, Pastor Valentine or Valentinus was a clergyman in the Roman Empire who lived during the reign of Claudius Gothicus or Claudius II . Because the Emperor was having difficulty getting young men to volunteer to serve in the army to fight his wars, he prohibited marriage which would further hurt the conscription rate. Pastor Valentine, who celebrated God’s love and Biblical love between husband and wife, secretly married Christian couples in the forest which ultimately led to his arrest and imprisonment. While Claudius took a liking to Pastor Valentinus, the bold preacher tried to convert the Emperor which resulted in a sentence of death. In Romans 10:14, the Apostle Paul asks, “How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Valentine was beaten with clubs and stones. And when that failed to kill him, Valentine was beheaded on February 14th, A.D. 269. And now you know the rest of the story. Get the children’s book entitled Valentine: God’s Courageous Evangelist . 1 RFK, Jr.: “God sent me President Trump”, Wikipedia founder comes to Christ, Myanmar’s military bombed Catholic cathedral
It’s Friday, February 14th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Adam McManus and Jonathan Clark Myanmar’s military bombed Catholic cathedral The ruling military regime in Myanmar bombed a newly designated Catholic cathedral earlier this month, reports International Christian Concern . The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, located in Mindat , Chin State , was designated as a cathedral by Pope Francis on January 25 — just two weeks before it was bombed on February 6. The bombing destroyed the cathedral’s roof and blew out the windows, rendering the building unusable. Fortunately, the area had been evacuated in anticipation of the attack, and no deaths were reported. Chin State is the country’s only Christian-majority state, with about 85% of the population ascribing to the faith. Nearly 90% of Myanmar’s overall population is Buddhist . According to Open Doors, Myanmar is the 13 th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. More Evangelicals growing in number in Costa Rica Evangelical Focus reports that a new study shows Evangelicals are increasing in Costa Rica , an historically Catholic country. Fifty percent of the Central American country’s population identify as Catholic. Thirty-three percent identify as Evangelical. This comes despite 73% of respondents saying they were raised Catholic and 23% saying they were raised Evangelical. Evangelical Costa Ricans are also more likely to be younger and attend church weekly. One-third of world’s population now identify as Christian Lifeway Research shared several encouraging trends for global Christianity this year based on a report from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. First, the number of Christians continues to grow, reaching 2.64 billion this year, about one-third of the world’s population. Second, the growth of the religiously unaffiliated is slowing and even projected to decrease in the coming decades. Third, Evangelicals are the fastest growing Christian group, projected to reach 620 million by 2050. Fourth, Christianity is growing the fastest in the Global South, especially in Africa and Asia. Africa is projected to have the largest Christian population by 2050. And fifth, the percentage of the world’s population without access to the Gospel has fallen to 27%. That’s down from 54% in 1900. Psalm 22:27-28 says, “All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before You. For the kingdom is the LORD’s, and He rules over the nations.” RFK, Jr confirmed as Trump’s Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr ., whose nomination by President Donald Trump as Secretary of Health and Human Services was highly scrutinized by lawmakers, was confirmed to that post by the Senate on February 13 in a 52–48 vote , reports The Epoch Times . PRESIDING OFFICER: “ On this vote , the yeas are 52, the nays are 48. The confirmation is confirmed.” Republican Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, a polio survivor who previously voiced concerns about Kennedy’s vaccine views, voted against confirming Kennedy. He was the only Republican to cast a no vote. Kennedy will head the Department of Health and Human Services, which manages 13 agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the National Institutes of Health. Kennedy has promised significant changes throughout the department which has a $1.8 trillion dollar annual budget. Under the “ Make America Healthy Again ” campaign, Kennedy aims to curtail what he calls the chronic disease epidemic, removing toxic chemicals from the nation’s food supply, overhauling dietary guidelines, and taking aim at ultra-processed foods, reports FoxNews.com . The Children’s Health Defense founder has also called for a review of advertising rules for pharmaceutical companies and has urged Trump to ban pharmaceutical advertising on TV. He also believes in eliminating liability protections for drug companies. Kennedy told The Epoch Times in September that he would revamp the National Institutes of Health to focus on the causes of autism, autoimmune diseases, and neurodevelopment diseases instead of developing drugs and serving as an incubator for pharmaceutical products. RFK, Jr.: “God sent me President Trump” Before Robert F. Kennedy, Jr was sworn in as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services in the Oval Office, he offered praise for Trump’s gutsy leadership. KENNEDY: “For 20 years, I’m up every morning on my knees and prayed that God would put me in a position where I can end the childhood, chronic disease epidemic in this country. On August 23 of last year, God sent me President Trump. “He’s kept every promise that he’s made to me. I’m so grateful to you, Mr. President. A lot of people told me that I couldn’t trust President Trump. I better get it in writing, and we did a handshake, and everything that he told me he was going to do, he has done. “I genuinely believe that you are a pivotal historical figure, and you are going to transform this country. President Trump has promised to restore the American Dream in this country. A healthy person has a thousand dreams. A sick person only has one. 60% of our population has only one dream – that they get better. “President Trump has promised that he’s going to restore America’s strength. But we can’t be a strong nation if we have a weak citizenry. 60% of our people are sick. 77% of our children cannot qualify for military service. “We need a man on a white horse now. We need somebody who is willing to come in and has the spine and the guts and the strength to challenge orthodoxies, to stand in the way of vested interests, and to break institutions that have turned against our democracy. President Trump has shown again and again that he is that hero. We need a revolutionary figure, and you are that figure. And I’m very grateful for you for giving me this opportunity.” Wikipedia founder comes to Christ And finally, Larry Sanger , the 56-year-old co-founder of Wikipedia in 2001 who grew up in the Lutheran Church, has been a lifelong religious skeptic until his conversion to the Christian faith in 2020, reports The Christian Post . An agnostic, he became intrigued by philosophical arguments for God’s existence, particularly the “ First Cause” argument , according to a new blog on his personal website. He began to personally study the Scriptures for himself, downloaded the YouVersion Bible app, “and immediately made Bible study a serious hobby.” Christian apologists Stephen Meyer and William Lane Craig made him think deeply. After devouring the four gospels, Sanger said in 2020, “I should admit to myself that I now believe in God, and pray to God properly.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Close And that’s The Worldview on this Friday, February 14th in the year of our Lord 2025. 1 Tulsi Gabbard confirmed, Trump: No more drag shows at Kennedy Center, British Christian teacher vindicated for objecting to transgender agenda
It’s Thursday, February 13th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Iran arrested two Christians Article 18 reports that authorities in Iran arrested two Christians last Thursday. Nasser Navard Gol-Tapeh and Joseph Shabazian are both in their 60s. They had previously spent a combined six years in prison for leading house churches. They originally received 10-year sentences, but were released part way through. It’s not clear why officials arrested Nasser and Joseph again. But the Middle Eastern country is known for arresting anyone who is not aligned with the Islamic regime on “security” charges. Iran is ranked ninth on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. In Matthew 5:10, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” British Christian teacher vindicated for objecting to transgender agenda Yesterday, an appeals court in the United Kingdom ruled in favor of a Christian teacher who lost her job over her Facebook posts. A Church of England primary school in Gloucestershire fired Kristie Higgs in 2019. This came after she posted a petition on Facebook that opposed mandatory sex education in schools. She also posted an article that challenged transgender ideology. Higgs has spent the last six years fighting the school’s decision to fire her. HIGGS: “Nobody should lose their job for raising concerns. The biggest thing for me was that it was a Church of England School . They should be going by what God says, but now they’re changing it, and that’s just alarming. Just to see a boy in girl’s clothing. Another one, My Princess Boy . To some people, it may appear to be okay, but when you know the Lord, you know His ways, and you know a boy cannot be a princess. A boy shouldn’t dress up in Princess’ clothing. “I knew what these books were. I knew that it was wrong. I could see through it, and I praise God for that. I encourage others to stand up against the ideology and the agendas that are being pushed. You know, we don’t have to, don’t have to agree to everything. We don’t have to go with the flow. The Lord is with us and will help us through it all.” After her victory yesterday, Higgs said , “I pray that today will prove to be a landmark day for Christian freedoms and free speech. … The Court of Appeal has now set a clear standard to protect people like me, and the countless other Christians in this nation, to express their beliefs without fear of losing their jobs.” Trump chatted with Russian President Vladimir Putin U.S. President Donald Trump spoke over the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday. It’s the first known conversation between the two leaders since the start of Trump’s second term. Trump described the conversation as “lengthy and highly productive.” He announced the two countries would begin immediate negotiations for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine . Trump said he also had a good conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday. The conversations come as the United States and Russia complete a prisoner exchange this week. Tulsi Gabbard confirmed as National Intelligence Director Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who became a Republican and endorsed Donald Trump for President last October, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the position of director of national intelligence, reports The Epoch Times . Gabbard was confirmed in a 52–48 vote on Wednesday. Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote against Gabbard . SENATOR: “Yays are 52. Nays are 48. Nomination is confirmed.” Yesterday’s confirmation follows a contentious few weeks of debate over Gabbard’s qualifications and judgment, in which lawmakers from both sides of the aisle asked probing questions about her views on Russia , ousted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad , and Edward Snowden , the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked classified information. Listen to this exchange between Republican Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas and Gabbard on the topic of Russia as she appeared before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence . MORAN: “I want to make certain that in no way does Russia get a pass in either your mind or your heart or in any policy recommendation you would make or not make.” GABBARD: “Senator, I’m offended by the question because my sole focus, commitment, and responsibility is about our own nation, our own security, and the interests of the American people. In carrying out the responsibilities of the Director of National Intelligence, if confirmed, no country, group or individual will get a pass in my fulfilling that responsibility of providing that full intelligence picture so that you all can make the best informed policy decisions for the safety, security, and freedom of the American people. “You have my commitment to be completely objective, unbiased, and apolitical. And I hope you understand my commitment to our country’s interest.” MORAN: “I absolutely do. You have answered my question in the manner in which I wanted to hear, that you will do this in an objective manner, provide the information necessary, and that Russia, if it’s a threat, you will tell us so and tell us the details of that threat.” GABBARD: “Yes. Senator.” After President Trump introduced her at the Oval Office, Gabbard was sworn in by Attorney General Pam Bondi . GABBARD: “I, Tulsi Gabbard, do solemnly swear, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same. I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I’m about to enter. So help me, God.” CDC website purged references to LGBTQ lifestyle and affirmed adoption The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is changing its website under the Trump administration. The CDC is editing or removing references on its website to “transgender” individuals, “LGBTQ+ health,” and diversity, equity and inclusion. Its website also suggests adoption when people search for abortion. Trump: No more drag shows at Kennedy Center And finally, President Trump announced last Friday that he is removing liberal agendas from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts . The national cultural center of the United States is located in Washington, D.C. Congress authorized the center in 1958 , requiring it to be sustained through private funds. Trump said he fired multiple people on the center’s board of trustees, becoming the chairman himself. He wrote on Truth Social , “Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP.” Close And that’s The Worldview on this Thursday, February 13th, in the year of our Lord 2025. It’s Wednesday, February 12th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Jonathan Clark Nepal detained 13 Christians over evangelism International Christian Concern reports the government of Nepal detained 13 Christians last week over alleged evangelistic activities in the south Asian country. Twelve of the people are U.S. citizens, and one is a citizen of India . The American Christians were visiting Nepal on tourist visas and helping construct a building in the southeastern city of Dharan . However, officials accused them of sharing their faith with locals. The country currently bans attempts to convert someone from one religion to another. Authorities released the group of foreign Christians. However, the Nepalese Christians faced greater harassment for evangelizing, including years in prison. United Kingdom targets pro-lifers again Authorities in the United Kingdom continue to target pro-lifers . Alliance Defending Freedom UK released footage on Monday of the latest incident. Isabel Vaughan-Spruce is a co-director of March for Life UK , and was standing silently outside of an abortion mill recently. However, police told her that her mere presence was causing “harassment, alarm, and distress.” The pro-lifer has already faced arrest twice for silently praying outside abortion mills. She said, “[The officer] believes that just because I hold pro-life beliefs, I am automatically a criminal in certain public areas. This isn’t right!” Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” 36% of Swiss are non-religious Evangelical Focus reports the religious landscape in Switzerland is changing. The largest religious group in the European country is those who say they have no religion at 36% . That’s up from 1% in 1970. Twenty-percent of the population identifies with the mainline Protestant Swiss Evangelical Church, down from 49% in 1970. And 31% identify with the Catholic Church, down from 42% in 2000. However, independent Evangelical churches appear to be growing even though they represent a small portion of the population at about 6%. Sadly, 17% of Evangelicals report experiencing religious discrimination. Trump imposes 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports Here in the United States, President Donald Trump signed an order on Monday to i mpose 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports. Trump called it a “big deal” while signing. TRUMP: “This is a big deal. This is the beginning of making America rich again.” Peter Navarro , Trump’s trade adviser, told reporters, “It’s about ensuring that America never has to rely on foreign nations for critical industries like steel and aluminum.” Canada and Mexico will probably face the most repercussions from the tariffs as they are the largest exporters of steel and aluminum to the U.S. Google changed Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America for American users On Monday, Google changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on its maps program. The change applies to users of the application in the U.S . This comes after President Trump ordered the body of water to be called the Gulf of America in U.S. government documents. He also issued a proclamation recognizing February 9 as Gulf of America Day. The government, database known as the Geographic Names Information System, released this update. “The Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico, with an average depth of 5,300 feet is a major body of water bordered and nearly landlocked by North America with the Gulf’s eastern, northern, and northwestern shores in the U.S. and its southwestern and southern shores in Mexico.” Psalm 95:3, 5 reminds us, “For the LORD is the great God, and the great King above all gods. … The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land.” Google kisses DEI goodbye Speaking of Google, the major tech company is ending its diversity goals . Alphabet, Google’s parent company, released their annual report last week. The report excluded previous language of commitment to “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” This comes after President Trump signed an executive order, ending diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in the government . Google said they would not be continuing such programs since it is a federal contractor. Shark attacks are down And finally, here’s some good news! Shark attacks are down this year, according to the International Shark Attack File maintained by the Florida Museum of Natural History . There were 47 unprovoked shark attacks recorded around the world last year, down from the 10-year average of 70. And only four of those attacks resulted in fatalities, also significantly down from previous years. Neil Hammerschlag with the Shark Research Foundation said , “With more people using the oceans than ever before — whether for recreation, fishing, or other activities — you might expect bite incidents to rise. Yet, the fact that numbers are even lower than last year reinforces the idea that humans aren’t natural prey or even likely targets for sharks.” Close And that’s The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 12th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Tragically, at least 16 Christians connected with The Lord Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry died in the attack, reports International Christian Concern . British farmers protest proposed inheritance tax Hundreds of tractors blocked the road leading to the British Parliament building in London yesterday, reports the BBC . The liberal government announced late last year they would be adding a 20% inheritance tax on agricultural assets including land worth over £1.3 million pounds for the first time. Nigel Farage , a Member of Parliament, spoke to the protesting farmers . FARAGE: “From what I can see, Joe Public is getting behind the concept that the family farm should not be driven out of existence. So politically, I think we can win this. “This inheritance tax, it isn’t just the farms that it hits. It’s family businesses as well. In fact, inheritance tax, when you think about it, it’s on money that we paid tax on already. The whole thing’s monstrous. Let’s just stand up and say no to death taxes. Full stop. End death taxes. They’re wrong. They’re immoral at every level.” (cheers, applause) Farmers claim the inheritance tax will drive food prices up and bankrupt some farming families. Job 24:1-3 speaks of this: “Since times are not hidden from the Almighty, why do those who know Him see not His days? Some remove landmarks; They seize flocks violently and feed on them; They drive away the donkey of the fatherless; They take the widow’s ox as a pledge.” GOP Chair introduced transgendered Rep. as biological man Here in the United States, the acting chair of the House of Representatives, Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois, would not refer to a certain representative of the state of Delaware as a woman. Listen to the audio for the introduction that occurred last Thursday . MILLER: “The chair recognizes the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride, for five minutes.” McBRIDE: “Thank you, Madam Speaker. When I was elected, I promised to work with anyone who would help Delaware and Delawarians.” Tim McBride , who once served as President of the student body at American University in D.C., has taken on the name Sarah . House Speaker Mike Johnson announced last November that “transgender women may not use women’s restrooms in the Capitol … to include changing rooms and locker rooms.” Philadelphia Eagles coach gave God the glory Head Coach for the Philadelphia Eagles , Nick Siranni , gave thanks to God after his team won the Super Bowl on Sunday. REPORTER: “Nick, Super Bowl champions. What does the moment mean?” SIRANNI: “Man, God has blessed us very much. He gave us all the talents to be able to get here. So, first and foremost, thanks to Him. Thank God. Thank You, Jesus.” The Eagles stopped the Kansas City Chiefs, on an attempt to break a Super Bowl record with a three-in-a-row Super Bowl win. Both quarterbacks in the game, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, are professing Christians . After his 40-22 win over the Chiefs, Hurts told Fox News that “God is good. He’s greater than all the highs and the lows.” Psalm 96:4-5 exhorts us to “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.” Gold has doubled since 2020 Gold breeched $2,900 an ounce yesterday for the first time, reports Mining.com . FEMA paid $59 million to house illegals in luxury hotels last week Elon Musk posted on X just yesterday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had given over “$59 million to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants” just last week, reports The Epoch Times . Musk called this a violation of law. The U.S. House Budget Committee found that the federal government had spent $88 billion in 2023 taking care of illegal immigrants. As of May 13th, 2024, the illegal immigrant crisis has racked up costs for federal and state governments of anywhere between $150 billion to $400 billion. Back in 2023, half of New York City’s hotel rooms were occupied by illegals, many of whom had been sent to New York City from Texas. Fourth American to receive pig’s kidney Surgeons at Massachusetts General Hospital have successfully performed the fourth pig kidney transplant in America, reports U.S. News and World Report . 1 Trump wants to shut down Dept of Education, More outrageous evidence of USAID taxpayer abuse, 35-year-old Muslim abducted & married 12-year-old Catholic girl
It’s Monday, February 10th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. Ali took her to the city of Shaheed Benazirabad in the Sindh Province . He lamented that more than a month has passed since his daughter’s abduction, yet police were making no effort to rescue her. Isaiah 59:15 says, “Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey. The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice.” Pakistan, where 97% of the people are Muslim, is the 9 th most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Trump wants to shut down Department of Education President Donald Trump is eager to shut down the Department of Education and return control back to the states, reports Fox News . TRUMP: “We spend more per pupil than any other country in the world, and we’re ranked at the bottom of the list. We’re ranked very badly. What I want to do is let the states run schools. I believe strongly in school choice. But, in addition to that, I want the states to run schools, and I want Linda [McMahon , Secretary of Education] to put herself out of a job.” Appearing on Fox Business with Stuart Varney , White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump will keep his promise to shut down the Department of Education. LEAVITT: “When you look at the literacy rates, the math and the reading rates of young children and students in America, they are not good. Our nation’s report card was released last week, and it showed that only 40% of fourth graders are reading at a proficient level . So clearly, the tens of millions of dollars that the Department of Education is spending every single year is not working. “President Trump wants to empower parents to have a greater say in their child’s education system. As for the Department of Education, [To Be Determined] on an announcement there.” VARNEY: “So, you can’t confirm that he is going to try to abolish the Department of Education? You can’t confirm that for us?” LEAVITT: “I will say that President Trump campaigned on that promise, and I think the American people can expect him to deliver.” More outrageous evidence of USAID taxpayer abuse More evidence to document the waste and abuse of the American taxpayers’ money at the United States Agency for International Development or USAID, reports The Blaze.com . Founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy , the annual budget of the USAID today is $50 billion. Listen to some examples of your tax dollars being abused. “$7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid binary gendered language.” “$4.5 million to combat disinformation in Kazakhstan .” “$2 million for sex changes and homosexual and transgender activism in Guatemala .” “$2.1 million to help the British Broadcasting Corporation value the diversity of Libyan society.” “$10 million worth of USAID-funded meals went to an al-Qaeda linked terrorist group.” “$6 million for tourism in Egypt .” “$5 million to EcoHealth Alliance, one of the key Non-Governmental Organizations funding bat virus research in the Wuhan [China] lab.” “$1.1 million to an Armenian homosexual transgender group.” “$1.5 million to promote homosexual transgender advocacy in Jamaica . ” “$2 million to promote homosexual transgender equity through entrepreneurship in Latin America .” “$2.3 million for small-scale gold mining in the Amazon .” “$5.5 million for homosexual transgender activism in Uganda .” Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck and his co-host, Pat Gray, were incredulous. BECK: “Give that list to your friends.” GRAY: “Yeah. Yeah.” BECK: “Hey, what part of this are you for?” GRAY: “Are we just immune to numbers like that now?” BECK: “Yeah, I think we are.” GRAY: “Do we hear trillions now so often, so hundreds of billions and trillions now that maybe, when we hear $20 million for Egypt tourism, maybe we it just doesn’t affect us anymore. We’re like, ‘Ah, that’s not very much.’” BECK: “It’s more than most people will pay in income tax their entire life.” GRAY: “Ever, ever in their life.” BECK: “Wasted.” GRAY: “Yeah.” BECK: “And your kids are on the hook for a loan to pay for things like that, because, you know, we’re $3 trillion over budget. The biggest enemy we fight is complacency. It’s got to stop right now!” Trump calls USAID funding “a big scam” In a Sunday interview with Brett Baier on Fox News Channel, President Trump expressed his outrage over the abuse of tax dollars at USAID as well. TRUMP: “You take a look at the USAID, the kind of fraud in there. Well, we’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars of money that’s going to places where it shouldn’t be going, where, if I read a list, you’d say this is ridiculous. It’s a big scam.” John MacArthur released from hospital And finally, Pastor John MacArthur , host of Grace to You , has been released from the hospital following complications during his recovery from heart and lung surgeries. He is now recovering at home, reports The Christian Post . The 85-year-old pastor, known for his extensive Evangelical work and theological teachings, faced multiple health setbacks in recent months that necessitated a prolonged hospitalization. MacArthur has undergone multiple heart operations in the past year and needed additional lung surgery within just a few months. Pray Numbers 6:24-26 for Pastor MacArthur: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.” Plus, it’s not too late to send Pastor John MacArthur a get well card. 1 Trump’s task force to stop anti-Christian bias in gov’t, U.S. taxpayers funded transgender opera in Columbia, Jump-roping champion saves teen out of icy waters
It’s Friday, February 7th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Adam McManus Vietnamese pastor harassed and arrested by Communists Pastor Nguyen Manh Hung , age 71, was arrested on January 16th for a Facebook post that criticized Vietnam’s communist government , reports International Christian Concern . Authorities charged Nguyen with promoting “anti-state propaganda,” a charge that carries a maximum of 20 years in prison. Police reportedly cut off the power to the pastor’s home, entered the home, and arrested the pastor. Officers also confiscated documents, laptops, and phones. Matthew 5:10 says, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.” Authorities have harassed Pastor Nguyen several times in the last 15 years. But he has continued to publicly challenge corruption and human rights abuses from the communist government, including appearing in 2015 before a U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee investigating violations of religious freedoms in Vietnam. According to Open Doors, Vietnam is the 44 th worst country worldwide for the persecution of Christians. Trump: “America will always be one nation under God!” President Donald Trump spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast yesterday which was held in the Washington Hilton, reports The Christian Post . TRUMP: “From the earliest days of our republic, faith in God has always been the ultimate source of the strength that beats in the hearts of our nation. America is and will always be one nation under God.” President Trump referred to the Christian faith of John Winthrop , a Puritan lawyer who helped found the Massachusetts colony, and Roger Williams , a Puritan minister who founded Providence Plantations which became Rhode Island. TRUMP: “Just steps away from here, in the Hall of Columns , is the statue of John Winthrop, who famously proclaimed that America would stand as a city upon a hill, a light to all nations. “In that same hall, we also find the statue of the great Roger Williams, who founded the state of Rhode Island, named its capital city, Providence, and built the First Baptist Church in America. It’s Williams that we have to thank for making religious liberty part of the bedrock of American life, and today, we must protect the fundamental freedom with absolute devotion.” Trump forms task force to stop anti-Christian bias in government President Trump indicated he would form a task force to stop anti-Christian bias in the federal government. TRUMP: “Today, I’m signing an executive order to make our Attorney General, Pam Bondi, the head of a task force, brand new, to eradicate anti-Christian bias. The mission of this task force will be to immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government, including at the DOJ, which was absolutely terrible, the IRS, the FBI and other agencies. “In addition, the task force will work to fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society and to move Heaven and Earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.” That task force will be a welcome respite after four years of demonstrable anti-Christian bias at Biden’s Department of Justice and the FBI. District Judge has delayed Trump deadline for federal workers to take buyout Yesterday, a federal judge has delayed a midnight deadline issued by the Trump administration for federal workers to make a buyout choice as more than 60,000 staffers have already opted to take the offer, reports NewsNationNow.com . Millions of U.S. government employees had been facing a Thursday deadline to decide whether to accept a buyout offer from the Trump administration or remain in their position. Those who chose to stay still risked being laid off. U.S. District Judge George O’Toole , a Bill Clinton appointee, ruled in favor of several labor unions that had requested a temporary restraining order against the plan spearheaded by Trump adviser Elon Musk. The judge didn’t express an opinion on the legality of the program and directed administration officials to extend the deadline to apply for the program until after a hearing scheduled for this Monday. President Trump’s push to reduce the size of the government is unprecedented, causing turmoil in Washington, and triggering protests and union concerns over potential legal violations. So far, more than 60,000 employees, about 2% of the federal civilian workforce, have accepted the buyout with more expected to join them. It remains unclear how many of the federal government’s 2.3 million civilian workers will ultimately agree to the offer, which guarantees pay through September if they resign by Thursday. U.S. taxpayers funded transgender opera in Columbia and trans comic book in Peru The United States Agency for International Development , which was created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, has become a conduit for waste, fraud and abuse. With a budget of over $50 billion, USAID is one of the largest official aid agencies in the world and accounts for more than half of all U.S. foreign assistance. Thanks to Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency the taxpayer-funded gravy train is finally coming to an end. Outside the White House, Karoline Leavitt , President Trump’s Press Secretary, listed some objectionable expenditures of the United States Agency for International Development. LEAVITT: “If you look at the waste and abuse that has run through USAID over the past several years, these are some of the insane priorities that that organization has been spending money on. $1.5 million to advance [Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion] in Serbia’s workplaces. $70,000 for a production of a DEI musical in Ireland. $47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia, $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru. “I don’t know about you, but as an American taxpayer, I don’t want my dollars going towards this crap. I know the American people don’t either. That’s exactly what Elon Musk has been tasked by President Trump to do: to get the fraud, waste and abuse out of our federal government.” Nearly all 14,000 staff members for the U.S. Agency for International Development, will be placed on leave tonight, according to the agency . In addition, all overseas missions for USAID had been ordered to shut down yesterday, reports CBS News . Jump-roping champion saves teen out of icy waters And finally, a famous jump-roper, David Fisher , recently saved a young man from drowning after he fell through the ice on a frozen lake, reports GoodNewsNetwork.org . Near his home in Westfield, Indiana, Fisher, age 61, discovered a teenage boy who had fallen into the icy waters through thin ice as he tried to rescue his dog who had met the same fate, according to the Washington Post . Fisher instinctively grabbed the two long cloth ropes he uses for Double Dutch jumping and ran out to the lake. In God’s providence, the boy grabbed the jump rope, got back onto the ice, and Fisher pulled him to safety. Through a spokesman, President Javier Milei said, “We Argentinians will not allow an international organization to intervene in our sovereignty, much less in our health.” The move follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to leave the World Health Organization last month . Both countries accused the organization of mishandling health issues like the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. would join other countries around the world with such an investment vehicle owned by the government. Trump suggested a U.S. sovereign wealth fund could be used to buy the social media platform TikTok. 1 Trump: Military will no longer pay for abortion travel; RFK, Jr. voted out of Senate Committee; Department of Education getting phased down & out
It’s Wednesday, February 5th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Pakistani Christian brothers released from prison Praise God! Two Christian brothers are now free from prison in Pakistan . A court acquitted the twin brothers last month. Eighteen-year-olds Sahil and Raheel Shahid were facing false Islamic blasphemy accusations. The brothers’ attorney told Morning Star News , “We believe that this case was a conspiracy against the Christian residents so that vested interests could grab their land and properties.” False blasphemy accusations are an increasing problem in Pakistan, a 97%-Muslim nation , The country is ranked 8th on the Open Doors’ World Watch List of the most difficult places to be a Christian. Countries in which religious nationalism predominates Pew Research released a global report on religious nationalism. The report identified religious nationalists as people who believe in the historically predominant religion of their country and believe that their religion should influence their laws and leaders. Religious nationalism was most common in Kenya for countries with Christian roots. For Buddhists, the country with the most religious nationalism was Thailand . For Hindus, it was India . For Jews, it was Israel . And for Muslims, it was Indonesia and Bangladesh . Religious nationalism for Christians was most common in Africa and South America while being the least common in Europe . The United States was somewhere in-between with just 6% of adults identifying as religious nationalists. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Senator Cassidy explained his conditional support of RFK, Jr. In the United States, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, a moderate Republican who voted to convict President Donald Trump in February 2021 of “incitement of insurrection”, was a key vote as member of the Senate Finance Committee which considered Robert F. Kennedy, Jr . to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services . As a physician, Senator Cassidy was especially concerned with Kennedy’s questions about a possible link between childhood vaccines and autism. Before the committee vote, Cassidy made this statement from the Senate floor. CASSIDY: “Now, Mr. Kennedy and the administration reached out seeking to reassure me regarding their commitment to protecting the public health benefit of vaccination. To this end, Mr. Kennedy and the administration committed that he and I would have an unprecedentedly close, collaborative working relationship if he is confirmed. “We will meet or speak multiple times a month. If confirmed, he will maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommendations without changes. CDC will not remove statements on their website, pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism. “He committed that they help committee chair, whether it’s me or someone else, may choose a representative on any board or commission formed to review vaccine safety. These commitments, and my expectation that we can have a great working relationship to make America healthy again, is the basis of my support. “If Mr. Kennedy is confirmed, I will use my authority as chairman of the Senate committee, with oversight of HHS, to rebuff any attempt to remove the public’s access to life-saving vaccines without iron-clad, causational, scientific evidence that can be accepted and defended before the mainstream scientific community and before Congress.” RFK, Jr. voted out of Senate Committee On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee voted to advance President Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr . to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. The committee voted 14-13 along party lines . Committee Chair Mike Crapo of Idaho oversaw the committee vote. CRAPO: “We now have not only a quorum, but all members of the committee are present. I move that the committee favorably report the nomination of the Honorable Robert F. Kennedy, Jr of California to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. Is there a second?” COMMITTEE MEMBER: “Second.” CLERK: “Mr. Chairman, the final tally was 14 ayes, 13 nays. CRAPO: “The vote was 14-13. The nomination is reported favorably.” Kennedy’s nomination now goes before the full U.S. Senate where he needs a simple majority or a minimum of 51 votes to be confirmed. Trump: Military will no longer pay for abortion travel Last Tuesday, the Trump administration announced the military will no longer cover travel expenses for services members to get abortions. U.S. Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama notably stood against the Defense Department’s funding for abortion under Biden’s leadership. He said , “For the past two years, I have been sounding the alarm about the Pentagon’s illegal and immoral practice of using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions. I took a lot of heat when I stood alone for nearly a year in holding senior Pentagon promotions over this—but as of today, it was all worth it.” Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Department of Education getting phased down The Trump administration is beginning to scale back the Department of Education. Already, the administration has placed dozens of employees on paid administrative leave. This is part of a broader effort to remove hires based on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The administration is also working on an executive order that would begin the process of eliminating the Education Department entirely. GDP slowed In economic news, the U.S. Gross Domestic Product slowed down during the last three months of 2024. The economy grew by 2.3% during the fourth quarter of last year, down from 3.1% during the third quarter. Economists had expected 2.5% growth for the fourth quarter. Also, the Federal Reserve held its key interest rate at 4.25%-4.5%, saying inflation remains somewhat elevated. The Fed cut interest rates three times since September 2024 and President Trump is calling for more cuts. Virginia voted down anti-homeschooling bill Virginia lawmakers voted down a bill that would have eliminated the religious exemption from the state’s public education requirements. The bill would have added many regulations for parents who educate their children at home for religious reasons. Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin wrote on X, “I stand with parents across Virginia in opposition to Senate Bill 1031. We cannot allow this attack on homeschooling to become law.” Court: San Francisco must rehire employees who refused COVID shot And finally, a federal appeals court ruled in favor of Christian employees who were fired for not getting a COVID-19 shot in California. The city of San Francisco must now rehire workers who were terminated for refusing the shot. The ruling stated, “Appellants’ coerced decision between their faith and their livelihood imposed emotional damage which cannot now be fully undone. … [San Francisco’s] finding that Appellants’ religious beliefs were insufficient to warrant any accommodations can only be described as a ‘dignitary affront.’ … The circumstances surrounding Appellants’ termination constitute irreparable harm.” Close And that’s The Worldview on this Wednesday, February 5th, in the year of our Lord 2025. 1 Trump pauses tariffs on Canada & Mexico, Dept. of Defense ends identity months, Martyr John Rogers burned at the stake February 4, 1555
It’s Tuesday, February 4th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Kevin Swanson Egyptian Christian jailed for converting from Islam An Egyptian Christian, Abdulbaqi Saeed Abdo, is a father of five and converted from Islam to the Christian faith. Originally from Yemen , West Asia, he has been released from an Egyptian prison after three years of incarceration. Abdo was indicted on charges of participating in a private Facebook group which advocated the Christian faith. Alliance Defending Freedom International represented the Christian convert who suffered poor treatment in prison, affecting his heart, liver, and kidneys. Trump pauses tariffs on Canada & Mexico after pledge to boost border enforcement On Monday, President Donald Trump agreed to a 30-day pause on his tariff threats against Mexico and Canada since America’s two largest trading partners took steps to appease his concerns about border security and drug trafficking, reports the Associated Press . TRUMP: “Had a great talk with Mexico. We have to stop fentanyl from coming in, and we have to stop the illegal aliens from coming in.” In the face of a 25% tariff south of the border, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she would reinforce the border with 10,000 members of her country’s National Guard . TRUMP: “They’ve agreed to put in 10,000 soldiers permanently, like forever, 10,000 soldiers at their side of the border and stop fentanyl.” That’s why Trump called off that tariff threat for the moment. Mexico’s trade surplus with the U.S. is running at $160 billion. The Trump administration had also suggested a 25% tariff on Canadian annual imports of some $430 billion. Initially, the Canadian government responded with a suggestion of a 25% tariff on American goods, currently running at $107 billion. But, on Monday afternoon, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted on X that the pause would occur “while we work together,” saying that his government would name a fentanyl czar, list Mexican cartels as terrorist groups, and launch a “Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl, and money laundering.” Will Trump’s tariff threat persuade China and European Union? Trump has announced a 10% tariff on China on $400 billion of imports to begin today if President Xi Jinping does not demonstrably commit to combat illegal immigration and drug smuggling, reports Reuters . TRUMP: “If we can’t make a deal with China, then the tariffs will be very, very substantial.” China’s surplus is $270 billion. Europe will not be immune to President Trump’s tariff pressure either. He is planning to levy a tariff on the European Union which, at this point, holds a trade surplus of $160 billion with the United States. U.S. Agency for Int’l Development under control of State Dept now Meanwhile, the Trump administration has announced that the U.S. Agency for International Development , primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance, will move under the direct control of the U.S. State Department. It will no no longer act as an independent agency. USAID spending has run between $15 and $20 billion per year over the last 20 years. It was created in 1961 under the Kennedy administration. In related news, the USAID website was taken down Saturday. Dept. of Defense ends identity months The U.S. Defense Department has announced an end to the sponsorship and support of “Identity Months” through the use of official resources. That will include Black History Month , Women’s History Month , and National Disability Employment Awareness Month . The release entitled “ Identity Months Dead at DoD ” stated that the department would instead “celebrate the valor and success of military heroes of all races, genders, and backgrounds as we restore our warrior culture and ethos.” New York doctor to be arrested for prescribing Abortion Kill Pill A Louisiana grand jury has issued an arrest warrant for a New York doctor who allegedly prescribed abortion kill pills for a pregnant minor who resided in the state of Louisiana. The jury indicted Dr. Margaret Carpenter; her company, Nightingale Medical, PC; and the minor’s mother for the felony of administering an abortion-inducing drug to the child. West Baton Rouge District Attorney Tony Clayton told the Associated Press that the mother turned herself in to the police last week. Job 24:1, 14 speaks of this. “Since times are not hidden from the Almighty, why do those who know Him see not His days? … The murderer rises with the light; He kills the poor and needy; and in the night he is like a thief.” Education decline in America The United States is leading the world in educational decline, according to the most recent Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study issued towards the end of 2024. Our students’ math scores dropped from 13th place in 2019 to 25th place in the 2023 testing. American 4th graders’ scores fell 18 points after 2019, while 8th graders’ scores fell by 27 points—the biggest drop since the United States began participating in the test in 1995. Peggy Carr , the commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics, noted what she called the “steep, steep” declines — erasing progress made in previous years. Brazil, South Africa, and Morocco have the worst scores while China, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan lead the world in science and math. But let us all remember that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction..” (Proverbs 1:7) Martyr John Rogers burned at the stake February 4, 1555 And, on this day in history, February 4th, 1555, John Rogers was burned at the stake , as the first Christian martyr under the reign of the English monarch Mary I . She became known as “Bloody Mary” for ordering a total of 280 Protestants burned at the stake . Rogers was a friend of William Tyndale and continued Tyndale’s efforts to translate the Bible. Roger’s work included the first complete English Bible and English Bible commentary, published under the pseudonym Thomas Matthews. His translation was known as the Matthews Bible . He is remembered for singing the Psalms as he was marched to the site of his execution. Close And that’s The Worldview on this Tuesday, February 4th in the year of our Lord 2025. 1 Kash Patel vows to reform FBI into “premier law enforcement agency”, Reagan Airport’s control tower understaffed, E.U. delegation warns Pakistan about human rights abuses
It’s Monday, February 3rd, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Adam McManus European Union delegation warns Pakistan about human rights abuses On Friday, a European Union delegation said that Pakistan ’s preferential trade status could be jeopardized if it does not address human rights concerns, including controversial Islamic blasphemy laws, forced marriages and conversions of Christian girls, and freedom of religion, reports Morning Star News . According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the 8 th worst country worldwide for the persecution of Christians. In John 15:18, Jesus said, “If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you.” Reagan Airport’s control tower was understaffed Since an Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed into an American Airlines jet last Wednesday night, killing all 67 people aboard both, authorities are taking a closer look at what went wrong. Staffing at the air traffic control tower at Ronald Reagan National Airport was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic,” reports The New York Times . The controller, who was handling helicopters in the airport’s vicinity Wednesday night, was also handling planes that were landing and departing from its runways. Those jobs typically are assigned to two controllers, not one. The Reagan airport tower was nearly one-third below targeted staff levels, with 19 fully certified controllers as of September 2023 instead of the recommended 30 controllers, according to the most recent Air Traffic Controller Workforce Plan . Alarms were raised about ‘congested’ airspace before fatal D.C. crash In related news, Daniel Driscoll , Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of the Army, questioned why military helicopters needed to conduct training exercises near such a busy commercial airport, reports The Guardian . Driscoll told lawmakers that the incident seemed “preventable” and vowed to review Army practices. Martin Chalk , a former British Airways captain who retired in 2020, said, “The military tend to have a bit of a law-unto-themselves approach,” explaining that military pilots do not have to follow all civil aviation protocols. Senator Kennedy urges Kash Patel to reform the FBI, not burn it down Kash Patel , President Donald Trump’s nomination for director of the FBI, was at the center of a tense and highly charged Senate hearing Thursday in which he defended his calls for significant reform at the beleaguered agency. Patel, age 44, worked as a counterterrorism prosecutor for the U.S. Justice Department under the Obama administration. Then, he served in the first Trump administration as chief of staff for the U.S. Department of Defense, deputy director of National Intelligence, and senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council. Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana had a fascinating exchange with Patel. KENNEDY: “You’re not saying that everybody at the FBI is bad, are you?” PATEL: “Never said that. I’ve overwhelmingly said, multiple times, that 98% of the FBI is courageous, apolitical, warriors of justice. They just need better leadership.” KENNEDY: “Who put away the Unabomber ?” PATEL: “The FBI.” KENNEDY: “Who put away Timothy McVeigh and his [ Joseph] Stalin ‘s stomach for blood?” PATEL “Agents at the FBI.” KENNEDY: “Who helped investigate Jesse Smollett , who, in an effort of self-aggrandizement, set back the fight for minority rights for years? The FBI had opened an investigation, wasn’t it.” PATEL: “Eventually, yes, Senator.” KENNEDY: “There have been or were some bad people at the FBI and the Justice Department. Mr. Hunter Biden cheated on his income taxes. Didn’t pay $1.4 million in income taxes over four years. And he filed fraudulent returns. He tried to deduct his hookers as a business expense, and they hit him with two misdemeanors before there was a public outcry. Don’t you think the American people are entitled to know the details of that?” PATEL: “The American people are entitled to a singular form of justice and the details to every public corruption investigation.” KENNEDY: “You, you remember Peter Strzok ?” PATEL: “I sure do.” KENNEDY: “One of the lead investigators for Mr. [ Robert] Mueller ‘s Russian collusion hoax.” PATE: “Yes, Senator.” KENNEDY: “You remember when the Inspector General, not his colleagues, turned him in? Inspector General found that Mr. Peter Strzok sent an email to his girlfriend. ‘Just went to a Southern Virginia Walmart. I could smell the Trump support.’ Remember that?” PATEL: “He did that while employed at the FBI, while working on that investigation.” KENNEDY: “Do you remember when the IG revealed another email by Mr. Strzok to his girlfriend? Mr. Strzok said, ‘I am riled up. Trump is an idiot. Is unable to provide a coherent answer.’” PATEL: “Peter Strzok said that.” KENNEDY: “You remember when his girlfriend texted Mr. Strzok? [She said,] ‘Trump’s not ever going to become president, right?’ And Mr. Strzok replied, ‘No. No, he won’t. We’ll stop it!’” PATEL: “I do remember their insurance policy.” KENNEDY: “And then Mr. Strzok testified, in front of God and country, that never had his political beliefs impacted his work. You believe in the tooth fairy?” PATEL: (laughs) “When I was a kid.” (crowd laughs) KENNEDY: “You believe Jimmy Hoffa died of natural causes?” (laughter) Then Mr. Strzok got fired, and next thing we know, the FBI and the Department of Justice, after he sued, gave him $1.2 million. Don’t you think the American people are entitled to know the details of that?” PATEL: “Absolutely!” Senator Kennedy gave Kash Patel this advice once he’s confirmed to be the new FBI Director. KENNEDY: “Now, I want you to think hard before you answer my next question. Do you believe in the adage that ‘two wrongs don’t make a right, but they do make it even’”? PATEL: “Senator, I think if anyone commits a wrong in government service, the American public deserve to know the absolute detail of that corrupt activity.” KENNEDY: “When reforming the FBI and the Justice Department, ‘two wrongs don’t make a right, but they do make it even’ is the wrong approach, isn’t it?” PATEL: “That’s correct.” KENNEDY: “And we’re going to hold you accountable for that.” PATEL: “I hope you do.” KENNEDY: “There’s some good people at the FBI.” PATEL: “Lots.” KENNEDY: “And there have been, and may still be, some bad people there. And you’ve got to find out who the bad people are and get rid of ‘em in accordance with due process and the rule of law. And then you got to lift up the good people. Don’t go over there and burn that place down. Go over there and make it better! Do you commit to us today that you would do that?” PATEL: “I commit to you, if confirmed, Senator, every single day, 24/7, 365, the FBI will be the premier law enforcement agency in the world!” Christian teen hockey player suffered spinal cord injury And finally, on Friday night, January 24th, while playing hockey, 17-year-old Jackson Drum of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota , sustained a traumatic neck injury during a hockey game in Vancouver, Canada. When he hit the boards head first, the 6’4”-tall young man with Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hockey endured a devastating spinal cord injury and had a cardiac arrest. Fox 9 in Minneapolis talked with his aunt , Emily Nouyen. NOUYEN: “There’s really no words to describe how our family is feeling.” He was stabilized and rushed to the Vancouver General Hospital. On Saturday, he underwent surgery to fuse C1 and C2 together to stabilize his neck. NOUYEN: “My sister has said a few times, ‘I feel like I’m in a nightmare!’ And that’s exactly how I would describe it: just devastation.” Jackson remains on a ventilator, unable to move. NOUYEN: “The doctors in Vancouver have prepared my sister and Jason for the possibility that Jack may not walk again, may not be able to use his arms, and may not breathe on his own.” Jackson has a long road ahead in recovery with considerable medical bills accruing. It’s the family’s hope to move Jackson to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota as soon as he’s stabilized. Please pray that God would miraculously heal Jackson Drum. Pray that the inflammation comes down, that he breathes on his own, and gets feeling back in his arms and legs. So far, $66,280 has been contributed to pay for his medical care including a medical transport from Canada to Minnesota. 1 Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., committed to Trump’s pro-life policies, Chinese pastor sentenced to 2 years, Elon Musk: We need shorter bills that people can understand
It’s Friday, January 31st, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Adam McManus Chinese pastor sentenced to 2 years for distributing Christian materials The drawn-out saga between the Chinese People’s Court of Shunde District in Guandong and the Shengjia House Church seems to be ending, reports International Christian Concern . On January 17, the People’s Court sentenced Preacher Deng Yanxiang to two years in prison. He is scheduled to be released in May because he has already served more than 18 months. He joins four other members of his house church who have been imprisoned for alleged illegal business operations, a charge frequently used against unregistered Chinese house churches by the Communists. The charges were tied to the church’s publications, including “Daily Bible Readings and Interpretations,” which were sold and distributed to local believers. In Luke 6:27-28, Jesus said, “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. faced contentious committee over HHS nomination President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees continue to be scrutinized by the U.S. Senate. On Wednesday, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. , a former Democrat, was vilified by the Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee about his interest in becoming President Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services . Republican Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin was highly annoyed with his Democratic colleagues . JOHNSON: “Thank you for your decades-long advocacy for a clean environment, for children’s health. I can’t say as I’m surprised by the hostility on the other side. I’m highly disappointed in it. I don’t know if you remember when you called me up and you were contemplating setting your political differences aside, joining forces with President Trump on an area of agreement, [and] addressing chronic illness. “My first response was, ‘Bobby, this is an answer my prayers.’ We need to heal and unify this divided nation. I thought, ‘Wow! Here’s somebody from the Left, somebody I don’t agree with on many issues politically, coming together with President Trump and focusing on an area of agreement, something that the American people desperately want.’ What has caused autism? What is causing chronic illness? “I think I know the personal and political price you’ve paid for this decision. I want to say publicly, I thank you for that. I truly appreciate what you’re doing here.” (applause) Kennedy agreed, saying that he wanted to solve chronic disease problems for all Americans. KENNEDY: “When I launched my campaign, it was about uniting Americans — Democrats and Republicans. There’s no issue that should unite us more than this chronic health epidemic. There’s no such thing as Republican children or Democratic children. These are our kids. Sixty-six percent of them are damaged. “I didn’t know anybody with a food allergy growing up. Why do five of my kids have allergies? Why are we seeing these explosions in diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, neurological diseases, depression? All these things that are related to toxics in the environment. Why can’t we just agree with each other to put differences about so many issues, intractable issues, aside as and say we’re going to end this?” Kennedy explained why he is uniquely qualified to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. KENNEDY: “I don’t think anybody is going to be able to do this like I have, because of my peculiar experience, because I’ve litigated against these agencies. When you litigate against them, you get a PhD in corporate capture and how to unravel it. I’ve written six books about these agencies. I know a lot about them, and I know how to fix it. “There’s nobody who will fix it the way that I do because I’m not scared of vested interest. I don’t care. I’m not here because I want a position or a job. I have a very good life and a happy family. This is something I don’t need.” And Kennedy explained why he has endured such hostility from the Democrats who once were his greatest friends. KENNEDY: “All these Democrats are opposed to me for partisan issues. They used to be my friends, agreed with me on all the environmental issues I’ve been working on for my whole career. Now they’re against me because anything that President Trump does, any decision he makes, has to be lampooned, derided, discredited, marginalized, vilified.” Robert F. Kennedy, Jr committed to Trump’s pro-life policies On abortion, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, whom President Trump nominated to lead Health and Human Services, said he agreed with Trump that “every abortion is a tragedy,” adding that “we cannot be a moral nation if we have 1.2 million abortions a year,” reports The Christian Post . Kennedy also said the president told him that he wants to work to oppose late-term abortions, support conscience protections for those opposed to abortion, and end federal funding of abortions. Kennedy noted, “I’m going to support President Trump’s policies on Title X. I serve at the pleasure of the president. I’m going to implement his policies.” Proverbs 31:8 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania thought Wednesday’s Senate Finance Committee hearing with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr was contentious and doubted whether Kennedy would even make it out of the 25-member committee, much less get 51 votes in the U.S. Senate, reports TheHill.com . Elon Musk: We need shorter bills that people can understand Tech mogul and presidential adviser Elon Musk had a brainstorm. MUSK: “Any laws need to be short enough that everyone can read them.” Imagine that. If this idea became a reality, it would make it more difficult to hide controversial goals within bills, reports LifeSiteNews.com . Trump is bewildered and angry about the helicopter/plane crash And finally, President Donald Trump reacted to the Wednesday night crash of the American Airlines Eagle plane with the Army Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River by Reagan Airport in Washington, D.C. On TruthSocial, he wrote , “The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a CLEAR NIGHT. The lights on the plane were blazing. Why didn’t the helicopter go up or down or turn? Why didn’t the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the plane? This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented. NOT GOOD!!!” WTOP reports that there were no survivors and the rescue mission turned to a recovery operation as of 8:00am Thursday morning. At that time, 28 bodies had been recovered. It is the deadliest U.S. air crash in nearly 24 years. Close And that’s The Worldview on this Friday, January 31st in the year of our Lord 2025. 1 Helicopter & passenger jet crash over Potomac River, Trump: No more tax-funded trans surgeries for kids, Trump wants to cut $100 billion in federal workforce
It’s Thursday, January 30th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com . I’m Adam McManus. ( Adam@TheWorldview.com ) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Pastor in India and wife face five years in prison for evangelizing Last Wednesday, officials in India convicted a Christian couple for evangelizing the Dalit community. Members of the community are known as the “untouchables,” representing the lowest stratum of the country’s caste system . Officials charged Pastor Jose Pappachan and his wife, Sheeja, with violating the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act. They now face five years in prison and the equivalent of hundreds of dollars in fines. International Christian Concern notes , “Dalits are socially, economically, and historically marginalized communities predominantly in India. Traditionally, the Dalits have easily embraced Christianity to escape the repressive caste system.” Chilean lawmakers commit to oppose abortion Last Tuesday, lawmakers in Chile signed a Commitment for Life document, reports Evangelical Focus . Members of several different parties signed the document in response to the government considering a law to legalize abortion. Parliamentarian Mauro González said, “We are a large majority that defends life, and we will continue to advocate for the ethical, moral and Christian principles that are part of our essence and culture.” Blackhawk helicopter collides with American Airlines jet over Potomac River In the United States, on Wednesday evening around 9:00pm ET, an American Airlines Eagle passenger jet, and an Army Blackhawk helicopter collided and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport , reports NBC News . Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas had 64 people aboard and the helicopter carried three soldiers. One eyewitness made reference to the American Airlines flight, calling it a CRJ, which means Canadian Regional Jet. Listen. EYEWITNESS: “The accident happened in the river. Both the helicopter and the plane crashed in the river east of the end of runway 33. It was probably out in the middle of the river. I just saw a fireball, and then it was just gone. So, I haven’t seen anything since they hit the river. But it was a CRJ [Canadian Regional Jet] and a helicopter that hit, I would say, maybe a half mile off the approach end of [runway] 33.” At least four people have been recovered and were rushed to hospitals. A frantic search to find crash victims in the river was underway within minutes. Last night, the temperature of the Potomac River was 35 degrees Fahrenheit. At 35 degrees, the human body core temperature quickly drops and exhaustion, hypothermia, and unconsciousness can occur in as little as 15 to 30 minutes. At 9:15pm, Reagan Airport announced, “All takeoffs and landings have been halted.” Trump ensures gov’t won’t fund transgender surgeries for kids In the United States, President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Tuesday entitled, “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.” The order keeps the federal government from funding transgender drugs and surgeries for people under the age of 19. The order states, “Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions. This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.” In Mark 10:6, Jesus said, “But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’” Trump confronts Bank of America CEO over debanking conservatives President Trump addressed the World Economic Forum being held in Davos , Switzerland last week. And he didn’t pull any punches. Trump made comments via remote video from Washington, D.C. In one comment, he rebuked major financial institutions for “debanking” conservatives and faith groups. Trump specifically called out Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan and JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon . TRUMP: “I hope you start opening your bank to conservatives because many conservatives complain that the banks are not allowing them to do business within the bank, and that included a place called Bank of America. They don’t take conservative business. I don’t know if the regulators mandated that because of Biden or what. But you and Jamie and everybody, I hope you’re going to open your banks to conservatives, because what you’re doing is wrong.” After several awkward seconds, Brian Moynihan, the CEO of Bank of America, offered the king of all non sequiturs , failing to address Trump’s direct concern at all. MOYNIHAN: “Mr. President, I’ll say that your friend Gianni [Infantino] said hello, told me to tell you hello, and we look forward to sponsoring the World Cup when it comes both this summer for the club and next year. So, thank you for getting that for the United States.” A prominent example of such “debanking” was Chase Bank’s decision to close the account of The National Committee for Religious Freedom in 2022. Trump looks to cut $100 billion through federal workforce The Trump administration is offering buyouts to federal workers to shrink the size of the government. Ahead of planned downsizing, the administration is offering federal employees to voluntarily resign by February 6. They would still receive pay through September. The administration expects 5-10% of the federal workforce to quit. This would save around $100 billion. American kids less competent in reading The National Center for Education Statistics released their latest report card for the U.S. American kids are still growing less competent in their reading skills and have made little progress in math. This continues the decline of academic results since school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
