Today, we'll tell you the story of the Swordquest series, four planned video games developed by Atari in the 1980s through which players could compete for $150,000 in prizes. As part of the tale, we'll teach you about what the idea was behind it. We'll also look at the prizes offered, which include a series of actual jeweled artifacts, such as the Sword of Ultimate Sorcery. Finally, we'll look at the contest itself, find out who won, and talk about where the prizes they won are today.
