1. be bounded by 被束缚于

第一句歌词是一个问句How can one become so bounded by choices that somebody else makes?

be bounded/bound by 被困于，被束缚在

例句：A Harmonious Society Needs to Be Bound by Moral and Legal Ties

和谐社会的构建需要道德与法律的双重约束

be bound to do 注定做某事或成为

“be bound to”是主观上的，人为的一种意念，在人思维逻辑的一种推理下，得出：嗯、这事儿势必会、一定会怎么怎么样，此外这个词组还带有义务的意思；

例如：

西部大开发一定能成为沟通世界各国和中国的一座桥梁，促进中国和世界经济共同发展，共同繁荣。

The Great Western Development is bound to be a bridge between China and the rest world, promoting the common economic development and prosperity of China and the world at large.

2. blow one's mind 让某人大为吃惊

歌词中唱到When I was a child every single thing could blow my mind

blow one's mind(away) 让某人大吃一惊

但什麼叫「它吹我的腦袋」？

其實 blow 在這裡是「炸掉」

所謂「把我的腦袋炸掉」是「讓我感到很震撼」的意思

通常是你聽到一件以前從未聽說過的事，或是學到一個新知識時的反應

它有很多變化形式

比如可以變成形容詞 mind-blowing (令人震撼的)

用在像是 a mind-blowing fact

或是用被動語態 My mind is/was blown. (字面上：我的腦袋被炸開了)

也可以簡單地說 Mind blown. (和上句意思一樣，比較簡化的說法)

下次你學到一個新知識或知道一件沒聽過的事，又感到很震驚時

就可以說 It’s blowing my mind!

如果是過去得知的事就可以說 It blew my mind!

有點類似中文說的「大開眼界」，但還要再驚訝一點

3. soak up 吸收（液体）

歌词中唱到 Soaking it all up for fun but now I only soak up wine

soak up 吸收液体 take in liquid

soak的以及是浸透了，如果说 I am soaked. 被雨淋成落汤鸡。

4. none the 一点也不

歌词中唱到 But the higher we climb feels like we're both none the wiser

none the wiser 不是什么智者, 还是不明白

none the + 比较级 = not... at all 全无，一点也不

5. get over oneself 不自以为是

歌词中不断唱到So I hope I learn to get over myself, 这也是歌者最重要的人生态度。

get over onself 英文的解释是stop thinking that you are so important; to stop being so serious.

所以就是不要自以为是或不要太当真. 因此这句话也可以理解为学会与自己和解
