"We were just kind of sleuth detectives doing the right thing and coming together from the west coast to the family on the east coast to bring justice to Gail Katz." - Carole Fisher

Welcome Carole Fisher:

We’re joined on the Starline by the president of the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation and the host of the #1 podcast “The Girlfriends”. The newest season is out with “The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister” we welcome host Carole Fisher.

Carole, let’s go Beyond the Mic. “The Girlfriends” tell the amazingly true story of a group of women who came together bringing a murderer to justice for Gail Katz. Why was season one so important for you to tell?

In season two “The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister” your amateur detective social club comes together to identify a torso of a woman who washed up on Staten Island and at one point was misidentified as Gail. What part of this story haunted you?

Why was giving people a voice important for you?

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Best thing about your daughter Brooke as she grew up?

2. What makes a photo of a pig wearing a birthday hat with a noisemaker in his mouth make you smile?

3. Favorite moment at Marti Gras?

4. Best place to relax on vacation?

5. Which person inspires you today?

6. Do you remember your dreams when you sleep?

7. What was your parent’s greatest sacrifice?

8. Last early childhood friend you talked to was whom?

The Back Half:

Your three guiding principles are taking out your trash, practicing self-compassion: say YES to your mess and telling your story before somebody else does. Which one was the hardest to learn for you?

Do you have a fourth guiding principle you only use for family?

You started your life as a social worker and was an executive director for a non-profit in Las Vegas. How did those early moments help guide you for today?

You are a global ambassador for No More which is working toward the end of domestic and sexual violence. What’s the hardest thing people have to understand about this fight which seems never ending?

How has working on this project help you and the girlfriends try eliminating domestic violence one bad actor at a time?

“The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister”:

Is there an episode of season 2 of “The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister” which will shock people and perhaps spur them to action?

You are all about telling your story, why was that important?

As you go out into the world speaking to others, what’s the message you want to give?

Why should people listen to “The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister”?

One Big Question:

When your days on the earth are done, how do you want people to remember you and the adversity you overcame?

Sneaking in a Couple More:

You said we need “more of” What do we need more of in this world?

Why is the family of “The Girlfriends” important to you?

How important is the core group of “The Girlfriends”?

The Wrap:

Her daughter inspires her, loves the beach and she wants you to listen to “The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister” wherever you can find podcasts. Carole Fisher, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is Beyond the Mic.
