Greetings, and welcome to The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week, the podcast companion to The End, the website and newsletter that shines a light back on audio fiction shows after they've reached the finale of a season or the conclusion of the series. I am your host and the curator of The End, Evo Terra.

Because this is the last issue before Christmas, I’m slightly changing the format of this episode because I got a bunch of Christmas-themed shows to mention.

So with that small disclaimer… Let’s get into it, shall we, and start with…

Christmas Week

The most recent issue of The End—the 68th—highlighted 5 shows that are Christmas-themed. My two favorites you’ll hear about in a moment, but there are three others you may be interested in if you feel like binging holiday-focused audio fiction while you wrap presents or whatever.

❤️🎄🎅🏻 • Tune Into Christmas,a dramatized heartwarming collection of Christmas tales told through 50's era radio from Elizabeth Hansen & Dramafy, is ready for you. It’s a complete series with only three short episodes for a total listening time of 27 minutes.

❤️🎄🎁 • A Gift, a dramatized faith-based Christmas tale from Matthew P. Woerner, AudioImagination77 Productions, and Dramafy, is also in your stocking. You only need an hour to listen to the single episode of this complete story.

🪄🎄🎶 • Jimmy and the Star Angel, a dramatized Christmas fantasy musical from Jerry Robins, Colonial Radio Theatre, and Dramafy. has been completed since 2016, but we’ve wrapped it in a nice bow for you. Give yourself just over an hour and a half to listen to both episodes.

Last Week

The most recent issue of The End—the 68th—highlighted 7 shows in either the Complete Series or Season Finales sections… and 5 of them wrapped in the last few days.

  • 🫖👁️⏳ • Kane and Feels: Wheel, a dramatized horror series from Skadi's Symphony, which is a celebration of the seasons that they’ve been doing for a year, posted the Season 3 finale… today, December 21st. Listen to the 16 current episodes in about nine hours.

  • 🌲🔥💀 • Submitted for the Approval of the Midnight Pals, a dramatized comedy horror from Bitter Karella & Robin Johnson, which is an adaptation of Bitter’s Hugo-nominated social media microfiction that features a majority of queer and neurodivergent creators, posted their Season 1 finale on the 19th of December. Listen to the 8 current episodes in about 5 hours.

  • 😈👹👻 • Your Horror Show, a dramatized horror anthology from Ryan Joseph Murphy, which was part of Pocket Casts "Halloween Horrors" List, posted the Season 1 finale on the 18th of December Listen to the 10 current episodes in about four hours.

  • 👽📊🚀 • inc: The Podcast, a dramatized scifi office comedy from Wolf Mountain Workshop that is queer led and has women in it, posted their Season 1 finale also on the 18th of December. Give yourself about 14 and a half hours to listen to the 28 current episodes.

  • 🤔😯😱 • E.A.T.I, a dramatized scifi cosmic-horror mystery from "Myster", posted its Season 1 finale on December the 14th. The episodes are short, so you’ll only need about an hour to listen to the 7 current episodes.

  • And be sure to listen to the end of the audio file to hear trailers or snippets for these shows.

This Week

With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV. And it is Christmas time so…

  • 🔎🎄👻 • My first recommendation is The Midnight Carols, a narrated dark fantasy Christmas story from Sentinel Creatives, Dramafy. If Charles Dickens and H.P. Lovecraft had a baby, that baby would have written this story. Krampus has nothing on this unsettling holiday tale! Here’s a snippet: [snippet plays] The Midnight Carols is a complete series, with 8 episodes giving you just over 3 hours of Eldrich Horror-like Christmas frights!

  • 🎅🏻👧🏼❤️ • My next recommendation is Miracle on 34th Street: The Radio Play, a dramatized heartwarming Christmas drama from Elizabeth Hansen & Dramafy. I've actually never seen the movie of the same name. So, while listening to this was a welcome Xmas treat, it also filled a hole in my cultural awareness! Here’s a snippet: [snippet plays] Miracle on 34th Street: The Radio Play is a Complete series, and you’ll only need about an hour to enjoy all three episodes of this classic Christmas tale.

Next Week

The latest issue of The End has 8 entries in the New Seasons Coming Soon section, but none of them starts up again in the next few days, so I’ll be that annoying guy ringing the bell outside of every grocery and department store begging for your change. Well, not begging. Asking for your support. It’s less than $25 for the whole year, which is probably less than you pay per month for some of your streaming services. So again, in the spirit of holiday giving or whatnot, please, if you’re not already tapped out buying presents, please go to TheEnd.fyi/support and become an Individual Supporter of The End to help keep this running through 2024.

I’m done begging, so now you can sit quietly for moment, as trailers or snippets for the eight shows I mentioned at the start of this episode are coming your way right after I say…

And that’s all for this episode of The End Last Week, This Week, and Next Week. For these and the other audio fiction shows featured, highlighted, and coming soon that were included in the 68th issue of The End, including links to listen to the shows mentioned in this episode, please visit TheEnd.fyi. I’m Evo Terra. Thanks for listening.
