Last Week

The most recent issue of The End—the 57th—highlighted 9 shows in either the Complete Series or Season Finales section, and 4 of them wrapped in the last few days.

• 📱🏙️✨ • Bad Influencer, a dramatized immersive romcom from Gabi Conti & Emerald Audio with Gemini XIII, posted the last episode of the full series on October 3rd. This complete series—produced by a female-led, female-driven network that creates stories with NYT Bestsellers and nationally recognized female content creators, has 9 episodes for just over 3 hours of immersive romantic comedy goodness.
• 🇬🇧🧪⛈️ • Also on October 3rd was the season 1 finale of Everyone’s Happy, a dramatised scifi series from GravyTree Media. There are 8 episodes currently available for nearly 5 hours of listening
• 🌑🏳️‍🌈😱 • Moonbase Theta, Out, a long-running narrated scifi series from Monkeyman Productions & Fable & Folly, wrapped the entire series on October 1st. Strap in for over 32 hours and 4 seasons across 82 episodes)
• 🕵️‍♂️💣🐊 • And on Sept 29th, MORNEAU, a dramatized crime story from Jeni Decker, also wrapped up the entire series. You’ll need about 23 hours to listen to all 70 episodes of the 4 seasons of the show.

This Week

With every issue, I make two recommendations for great audio fiction I personally love. As with all things in life, YMMV.

Before I do so, I want to say a quick thank you to Charlotte Underwood. Ben Paddon, Alex C Telander, and Ellen Keating. I recently changed the support levels for The End—lowered the amounts, in fact—but those four demanded that they continue to pay the prior higher rate, because that’s how much the believe in what I’m doing. Now, let’s get to my recommendations this week:

• 🏚👻🥬 • My first recommendation is Unwell, another long-running show, this time a dramatized gothic mystery from HartLife NFP. This is the kind of show that develops and keeps a cult following. It definitely takes its time, and the ghosts and horror probably aren't what you suspect, but it's definitely worth a listen. Find yourself about 29 hours of time to listen to all 60 episodes of the 5 seasons of this staple of today’s audio fiction.
• 🌟🚫😅 • My 2nd recommendation is Small Victories, a dramatized modern fiction series from WGC Productions. I featured this show back when the 1st season wrapped, and now that the 2nd season has also wrapped—and because Jade graciously sent me the audio files early—I get to do it again. Because it’s fabulous. It’s an up-close and raw look at addiction, coping, and surviving. And by "raw", I mean that's how it leaves your nerves feeling sometimes. Other times, you're laughing out loud. Kinda like life, yeah? It's a powerful tale. And it heavily features Queer Black characters and actors. Here’s the trailer for Season 2: [trailer plays] Small Victories has reached the season 2 finale, with more seasons coming. You’ll need about 5 hours to listen to the current 20 episodes.
