On this episode of Cleantech Forward, host and Foresight CEO Jeanette Jackson is joined by Sarah Applebaum, partner of Pangaea Ventures, and Tom Rand, managing partner and co-founder of ArcTern Ventures. The two share their thoughts on the current economic climate, how it’s affecting the #cleantech investor landscape and ventures seeking #capital, and what it all means for Canada’s net zero ambitions.

Sarah Applebaum is a partner with Pangea Ventures. Sarah brings a decade of venture capital and company building experience to her role at Pangea, and has cultivated expertise in building entrepreneurial teams, scaling early stage ventures, and venture financing. In her role as an Executive in Residence at entreprenurship@UBC, Sarah is an active mentor to early stage entrepreneurs, and a startup community activator and advocate.

Tom Rand is a managing partner at, and co-founder of ArcTern Ventures, and the author of three critically acclaimed books. Tom focuses his efforts on carbon mitigation and is active in cleantech venture capital, technology incubation and commercialization, and public advocacy.
