Danny Helson (Head of Programme Delivery & Investor Relations at Engage Invest Exploit (EIE)) joins the Deepbridge Discovery Podcast to discuss more around EIE’s role within Edinburgh University, the hopes and objectives for the next 12-36 months and why Scotland and Edinburgh in particular is such a great place to found a tech company.
About EIE:
Engage Invest Exploit (EIE), our annual technology investor readiness programme and showcase, is central to the University’s delivery of its role in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal.
A partnership has been forged with Data-Driven Innovation Initiative (ddi.ac.uk) with the backing of the £1.3 billion Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal. The partnership will support the launch of more spin-out companies, attract start-ups, and supporting established tech businesses to seek investment and drive significant wealth creation and economic impact for Scotland.
Scotland's sophisticated angel investment scene, strong support from the nation’s enterprise agencies, the incredible scale-up stories of Skyscanner and FanDuel, prominent investors like Archangels Informal, Techstart Ventures, Accelerated Digital Ventures (ADV), Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) and Pentech and the UK's first digital skills academy, CodeClan, are also key contributors to our growing technology success.
As EIE continues to evolve, it will help ensure that Edinburgh becomes the Data Capital of Europe and that Scotland is seen on the global stage as a pioneer and innovator in digital technology.

Supporting growth-focused companies and entrepreneurs has never been more important, but it is important to understand the people and ideas behind such investment opportunities.
Join the Deepbridge Capital team each week as they discuss all things Deepbridge, speak with various investment experts within the company and discover more about the founders and CEOs’ running the portfolio companies Deepbridge invests in. Each episode contains an informal conversation to understand how these leaders and teams perform in order to achieve their goals. Investments in early-stage companies are illiquid and high risk – investors could lose all of their capital.
