Make money to live, pay bills, and do important things...sometimes those jobs come with a set of unwritten rules. As a wise person once said, "Do you live to work, or do you work to live." There is no right answer, only your answer. If you have spent anytime on social media, you have probably heard of terms like quiet quitting, toxic positivity, hush trip, potluck, and we are all family here. Some of these terms may come with a bit of some uncomfortableness, and make you shake uncontrollably...don't panic, that's normal. If you are one of those individuals, who wakes up, stride on into work, and say things like, "Happy Monday", or "Wow, you look like your having a case of the Mondays", then you are probably not in the right place...todays podcast is all about the world most everyone lives in everyday. Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd, Dennis Haysbert, William Fitcher, and Henry Rollins, and more. It is your classic cops and robbers movie, Al Pacino the seasoned LAPD Detective. Chases Robert De Niro all over LA as he takes his robbery crew on a crime spree. Of course, the good guys win in the end. De Niro falls in love, leaves his love, Val Kilmer gets shot and lives in the end, and Sizemore gets smoked by Al Pacino in a courtyard...lots of gunplay, and some crafty story telling fills in the rest!!!! Famously directed by Michael Mann...and oh don't be so hasty, there may be a sequel in the works...we've heard rumors. We will take you on a journey on this episode, filled with tirades, comedy, fact bombs, and some just pure deep take discussions. We break the movie down into these categories: entertainment value, story, plausibility, and realism. We leave nothing off the table...no mercy in this one! We did love the movie, really enjoyed it, it is a 2 hours and 50 min ride deep into the 1990s movie making magic. Send us a text The Vietnam war is a black mark in history, many stories from Vietnam are filled with tragedy and sadness. The story of McNamara's Project 100,000 was a practice in idiocy...went on to garner the nickname "McNamara's Morons", a complete tragedy. In this episode we take a look at this absolute disastrous plan to fill the ranks of depleting soldiers in the Vietnam war through the practice of recruiting soldiers who did not pass the adopted military entrance exam (ASVAB). The soldiers who passed through this program were not prepared for what awaited them. Some could not read or write, and had low IQ's, and were in poor physical condition, or had medical complications...you can probably imagine it didn't go well. This episode includes a look at this whole debacle and includes some uncomfortable conversations about society, and how we sometimes just make really, really stupid decisions. We are really grateful he spent his valuable time with us. I have had the pleasure of seeing Lt. Col. Grossman speak over my years, a truly great experience. The books listed below, are all on the must read list! Here is a little bit about Lt. Col Grossman: Retired Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is the author and co-author of five non-fiction and four fiction books. He has co-authored a New York Times bestselling book with Glenn Beck. His book On Killing has sold over a half million copies world-wide, has been translated into five languages, is on the US Marine Corps Commandant’s Required Reading List, and is required reading at the FBI academy and numerous other academies and colleges. Col. Grossman co-authored Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill: A Call to Action Against TV, Movie and Video Game Violence, which has been translated into Norwegian and German, and has received international acclaim. Col. Grossman’s next book was On Combat, which was also placed on the US Marine Corps Commandant’s Required Reading List and is translated into Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. His book Warrior Mindset, applies sport psychology and performance psychology to military and law enforcement, and his most recent book is Assassination Generation. Col. Grossman has recently released a new book titled: On Hunting: A definitive study on the mind, body, and ecology of the hunter in modern culture. Lt. Col. Grossman has been a West Point Psychology Professor, Professor of Military Science, and an Army Ranger.
