An iconic Disney Legend passed away this week. Richard M. Sherman, half of the legendary Sherman Brothers, responsible for music from Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, it’s a small world, and more, passed away on May 24th. Weeklyteers in the parks on Memorial Day may have seen something different and wondered what it was all about. At Tiana’s Palace and Blue Bayou there were hero tables setup to honor missing heroes. They had a slice of lemon on the bread plate to remind us of the bitter fate of those who will never return, a pinch of salt symbolizing the tears endured by those who sacrificed all, an inverted glass for those who cannot toast with us, and an empty chair, representing a seat that remains unclaimed at the table. – https://wdwnt.com/2024/05/disneyland-memorial-day-missing-hero-tables/

Construction in Downtown Disney is coming along nicely. On the west end of the shopping district, the future security area is nearing completion, along with Din Tai Fung. An entire area in Disneyland is undergoing work from the ground up! Critter Country, which closed a few weeks ago, has had it’s walkways torn up, and there is a lot of work being done. A new droid has come to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to narrate the Season of the Force version of the fireworks. “Fire of the Rising Moons” debuted as an alternative musical score for the nightly fireworks in Batuu. An R-1 droid named Bard has now arrived to accompany the display with a narrative. The Matterhorn is turning 65 this year, and Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is getting in on the celebration. Starting June 1, Trader Sam’s will offer a coconut-pineapple Dole Whip, wish a coconut shaving topping and blue and silver edible glitter mixed in. Weeklyteers staying at the Pixar Place Hotel in the concierge level now have a place to hang out. The Club Level Concierge Lounge – named the Creators Club – has opened at the hotel. The lounge offers continental breakfast, wine and cheese receptions, beer, sparkling wine, hot bites, and desserts in the evening. The Disneyland Fire Department was at the Mickey and Friends parking structure last week, but not for a fire. A pop-up experience from the department was open near the security line for guests to learn how to use a fire extinguisher.
