With a journey spanning two decades, James Gaddis has carved an indelible path through the diverse realms of media, journalism, and communication. Anchorage, Alaska, has been both his canvas and inspiration as he navigated the dynamic landscapes of television news, public relations, digital marketing, and more. From early roots in the heart of New York to his vibrant presence in the Last Frontier, James's commitment to effective communication has been the driving force behind his ever-evolving career.
A native of Long Island, New York, the foundation for his media odyssey was laid at the New York Institute of Technology, where he honed his communication prowess and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communication Arts. This educational journey ignited a passion for storytelling and media that would soon become his life's calling.
Breaking boundaries and embracing challenges, James's journalism journey began at KREX in Grand Junction, Colorado, where he donned the hats of Reporter and Weather Forecaster.
Transitioning to WBNG in Binghamton and then NewsChannel 9 in Syracuse, New York, James continued his ascent in journalism, becoming an Anchor, Reporter, and Producer. Anchoring top-rated newscasts and producing assignments showcased his versatility and dedication to providing comprehensive and engaging news coverage.
Alaska's magnetic allure beckoned James, leading him to KTVA in Anchorage. Here, he seized the opportunity to co-create, anchor, and co-produce the morning newscast "Daybreak."
James's boundless curiosity and belief in the power of effective communication soon spurred him to explore new horizons. In 2019, he founded James Gaddis Media Strategies in Anchorage, a venture that has since become synonymous with impactful media solutions. As Co-Founder, he spearheads social media management, digital marketing, photography, video production, and public relations campaigns for local businesses.
What he is most passionate about is creating videos for his YouTube channel, NostalgAK (pronounced nuh·staal·juhk). The AK at the end is for his beloved home of Alaska. The channel tells stories about the 80s and 90s. Everything from toys, music, movies, TV shows, and cartoons, to video games, pop culture, and trends. The NostalgAK brand can also be found on Facebook and Instagram.
When not at a computer editing and creating content for his clients and NostalgAK, James is either on the soccer pitch, traveling, off on a hike with his Beagle, Obi, retrogaming, or reading.
