Dr. Dean Radin People that say, oh, I want to be I want to learn how to be much more intuitive and psychic. And my response is really, you really want to do that.Mike Stokes This is the earth Body, Mind spirit podcast, and I'm your host, Mike Stokes. Today's episode is an interview that I did with Dr. Dean Raiden. Back in 2015, and never published. Dr. Raiden is the chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. He's also a teacher at the California Institute of integral studies, and the author of four books on psychic phenomenon, including entangled minds, the conscious universe supernormal, and most recently, real magic. But we cover a number of topics, including the relationship between quantum physics and psychic phenomenon, the experience of the actual nature of understanding and learning about psychic phenomenon, the dangers of psychic power, and his very interesting story of how it came to all of this, I will leave links in the show notes below to all of his books. And without further ado, my interview with Dr. Dean Raiden, if you wouldn't mind, just telling me a little bit about how you came into this field of work. And what sparked your desire to study the powers of the mind and how they connect with the larger cosmos.Dr. Dean Radin If I were 20 or 30 years younger, I would probably say something like, it's because I read Harry Potter and want to know who was real. So the the equivalent books when I was a child were more like fairy tales and parables and science fiction, a lot of science fiction, right? So you don't need to read much of that, to start wondering whether the stories are is a pure fantasy, or is fantasy based on something and the more I read about mythology, the more I realized that some mythology is essentially metaphor, it's pointing at something, it's not the thing itself. But because the thing that has been pointed to repeatedly suggests that we have more potential in our minds, then we think we do that I got curious about it. And I think I went to the librarian one day and asked if there were any studies about psychic phenomena. And so the book that I got was calledMike Stokes and how old you when when this when you were to the library Dr. Dean Radin 10 or 12, or something like that. The book was I'm trying to remember exactly the title was something like ESP a scientific evaluation. And it was written by a guy named Hansel Mark Hansel, who, unbeknownst to me, was a major skeptic of the day. But in his book, he described experiments that hadn't been done and his reaction to it and so on. And while I understood the the skeptical responses, it also occurred to me that he was trying really hard to make it go away. And so I became more interested in what what do the what are the people who have actually done the experiments, say, so then I discovered the whole library section on Paris psychology, which I didn't even know there was such a thing. And so I read all of that. And I became intrigued with the idea that science is as a tool could be used to study anything. And so here was a small band of scientists over a century who had been doing that. And discovered that using basically the same methods as used in other areas of psychology, primari
