We follow his journey from a petty thief to a notorious serial killer and scam artist, who targeted young backpackers travelling along the popular "hippie trail" in South-East Asia during the 1970s. We discuss the gem dealer alias 'Alain Gautier', Charles' connection with Marie Leclerc, and the multitude of individuals who fell victim to his crimes.
Part 1 to this episode covered the first 30 years of Charles' life - this part, part two, covers just one year, 1975 - 1976, but, as we will explore, it is a busy one!
