Makaylah Rogers (they/she) is a social impact entrepreneur who co-owns Scale Naturally, as well as Frankie D's Donuts, a homemade donut business focused on opening up conversations around mental health.

Have you ever felt stifled by your gender?

Makaylah spent years struggling with their gender and sexual identity, and on the show they talk about the way those journeys impacted their mental healing. It’s a vulnerable discussion of their path to identifying as queer, and they share a raw account of their battle with suicidal ideation, including multiple attempts to take their own life. (It is some powerful stuff, but if it’s too much for you, it’s okay to skip this one.)

Find out what inspired Makaylah to come out as non-binary and learn why representation is so important, both specifically for Makaylah and in society at large. You’ll even learn a simple way you can be an advocate and help people who prefer non-binary pronouns to feel safe.

This episode’s a special GFR full-circle moment for Lisa because she actually birthed and named the 12 GFR Commandments and the Podcast at Makaylah and her partner Fia-Lynn’s Scale Naturally retreat back in 2018. At the time Makaylah was deep in their struggles about the way they presented in public, and never allowed themself to be seen on camera, even though a lot of their work was done over Zoom. So it’s also a big deal that we’re releasing this episode on video, too.
