Empathy Fosters Inclusion: Open conversations and genuine interest in others' experiences build empathy and inclusivity.
Challenges Persist: Accessibility remains inconsistent, even decades after ADA legislation, highlighting the need for continued advocacy.
Education Empowers Change: Educating others on what not to say or do helps reduce stigma and fosters understanding.
Storytelling Inspires Action: Sharing personal journeys through platforms like podcasts can profoundly impact individuals and communities.
Rob’s definition of inclusion:
Inclusion is acknowledging my abilities instead of defining me by my limitations. Also, seeing beyond the surface of the invisible nature of my injury and valuing me for who I am.
Rob’s Bio:
I am a native to southern Indiana at the age of 4 I began playing piano by ear. Music has always been my first love. Inspired by Buddy Valestro the cake boss. I began decorating cakes at master level as a side business with hopes of opening my own bakery one day. I had to give up my dream after my traumatic brain injury because of the stressful demand and detailed work of the job. I spent the first 3 years post injury trying to find purpose for my pain. I spend my free time hosting a podcast all about brain injuries, trying to spread awareness of what we call the invisible injury. My passion is pleasing people and finding ways to make others shine. I am a soon to be published author of my first book about my personal experience living with a brain injury and other traumas I have lived through. I have often been referred to as the office comedian and have been told I could do it as a profession. But I find Joy in just turning frowns into smiles. If I can make someone laugh and forget about their troubles it makes me feel like I have completed the purpose that God put me here for.
