学习语言的环境

今天我想讲一讲，语言的环境对于学习语言的重要性。

Today I want to talk about the importance of language environment for language learning.

有一个综艺节目特别有意思，参加节目的都是一些外国人，但是他们的中文特别好。

There is a TV show that is very interesting. There are some foreigners participating in the show, but their Chinese is very good.

他们就在节目上聊一些话题，比如说，各个国家不同的文化等等。

On the show, they talk about some topics, such as the different cultures of different countries and so on.

我记得有一次，他们在探讨学习中文到底难不难，有一个英国人，他就说，嗯，当时他们学中文的时候，用的是一个很老的教材。所以，当他第一次到北京的时候，他心里面做好了充分的准备，他想，当我看到第一个中国人的时候，我就要跟他说“您好，王同志”。

I remember one time, they were talking about how difficult it was to learn Chinese, and there was an Englishman who said, well, when they learned Chinese, they used a very old textbook. So when he arrived in Beijing for the first time, he was fully prepared. He thought, When I see the first Chinese, I will say" Hello, Comrade Wang."

可是，当他下了飞机，坐上出租车，司机跟他说的却是类似于：“嘿，去哪儿呢您嘞？”说话的速度特别快，而且好像跟他在书上学的完全不一样。

But when he gets off the plane and gets into a taxi, the driver says something like, "Hey, where are you going?" He spoke very fast, and seemed to speak very differently from what he had learned in books.

在北京生活了一段时间之后，他才真正地学会了真正的中文。

It was only after living in Beijing that he really picked up real Chinese.

再看看中国学习英语的情况，中国人从小就学英语，可是大家学了十几年都没有学好。

Take another look at the situation of English learning in China. Chinese people have been learning English since childhood, but they have been learning English for more than ten years without success.

我最不喜欢的是有一些教学方法，用中文来教英语，尤其是对于小朋友的英语启蒙，比如“nose nose 鼻子 鼻子”。

What I don't like the most is that some teaching methods are used to teach English in Chinese, especially for children's English initiation, such as "nose, nose, nose, nose".

这样的学习方法是特别不好的，我个人认为学语言就应该像母语者一样学习。

This method of learning is particularly bad. Personally, I think one should learn a language like a native speaker.

而置身于完全由这个语言构成的环境中，是非常非常重要的。

And it's very, very important to be in an environment that's made up entirely of this language.
