Movie Memory Machine

The Machine sends us to August 20th, 2021 to cover the romantic, science fiction, action-filled film noir Reminiscence, starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, Thandiwe Newton, and Cliff Curtis.

In a futuristic, flooded Miami, war veteran Nick Bannister (played by Hugh Jackman from "Deadpool & Wolverine") and his business partner Watts (played by Thandiwe Newton) run a business where patrons can re-live fond memories. The process, called reminiscence, is accomplished using a large machine that projects the unconscious client’s memories as Bannister guides them with a series of verbal prompts. Bannister falls hard for one of his customers, Mae (played by Rebecca Ferguson), a beautiful nightclub singer who hires him to search her memories for her lost keys. After a brief, passionate relationship, Mae disappears, and a despondent Bannister begins obsessively re-living his memories of her to discover clues about who she was and where she went. His investigation leads him from the depths of Miami’s criminal underworld to the gilded halls of a wealthy property tycoon’s estate as he slowly uncovers Mae’s sad and sordid past as a drug addict with ties to the mob.
