A date has been established for YNW Melly's retrial concerning the double murder charges; however, the rapper will remain incarcerated for over a year prior to this event.
According to court documents, Melly, whose legal name is Jamell Maurice Demons, is scheduled for retrial on September 25, 2025, with a pre-trial hearing set for December 5, 2024.
David Howard, Melly's attorney, refrained from providing comments when approached by Newsweek.
The initial trial for the double murder concluded in a mistrial, as the jury in Miami was unable to reach a unanimous verdict regarding his guilt or innocence.
Judge John Murphy addressed the jurors, acknowledging the difficulty of their decision-making process. These types of decisions, they're hard decisions.
