Do you need to feel good about people and life again? If so, this episode is for you! I interviewed Dafna Michaelson Jenet co-founder, president and JourneyWoman for the 50 in 52 Journey. The purpose of her Journey was simple: visit all 50 states in the USA in a year and interview the heroes that are making a difference in their community.

Dafna really gave herself over to this calling. She quit her job and took on this effort in spite of being a single mother. She cashed out her 401K to help fund the effort and her then boyfriend (now husband) even took money out of his own savings to complete the project.

The 50 in 52 Journey still continues to receive media attention. Most notably, her story was picked up by CBS Sunday Morning – you can see the video embedded here below.

But the 50 in 52 Journey is just the beginning. Dafna and her husband are taking all that they learned along the Journey to inspire business professionals, community leaders, educators, students – – and YOU!

1. Don’t wait for someone someone else to solve your problems. Everyone has the ability to make a difference in the community.

2. Dafna had no other goal than to inspire others. Most people would not sacrifice so much for what can only be titled “a calling” but her efforts have impacted people world-wide.

3. Dafna set out to highlight was is so RIGHT about America. Through this process she at once the leader in this effort as well as the cheerleader to all of the amazing individuals that she highlights on her website.

4. Dafna and her husband had many opportunities and valid reasons to quit the Journey. They struggled but persisted. I love their tenacity.

I f there is something that I would personally love you to take away from this episode it is that, whatever you want to do, be or accomplish, just do it. You truly can do anything you want, so long as you are willing to do the work.

I’m very inspired about where the future is going in the world with the inter-connectedness and technology that we get to enjoy. One media format that you need to be aware of is electronic periodicals (magazines and newspapers). If you ever thought of producing your very own niche magazine, you can do so right now. Heck, if you ever wanted to produce your own podcast, television show, book, whatever, there is NOTHING standing in your way.
