The Episode 18 of NGOpodcast features Tristaca McCray the President and Chief Executive Officer of NERDS RULE INC., A San Diego – based Nongovernmental organization that gives communities, youth, teens and young adults in the United States and around the world a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and become effective leaders. In 2011, Tristaca formed the 501(c) 3 organization in order to develop and support chapters of student groups on campuses and around the communities. From that moment forward, she has served as Executive Director of the non-profit, leading the organization as it engages student leaders nationwide and promotes a unified national voice for youth, teens and young adults.

The creative programs and projects of NERDS RULE INC over the years promote social, economic change that target a variety of global change using the Sustainable Development Goals.

Proven leader with extensive experience in strategy, development, and operations of winning programs focused on delivering best-in-class results. Highly effective in working with diverse teams to grow and administer complex operations. They are committed to providing thought leadership and business acumen to innovative solution development. Passionate about the importance of building community and leveraging the strengths of team members to deliver significant and sustainable positive impact.

The Mission of the organization is to advocate statewide and internationally to mobilize communities for at-risk youth, teens and young adults. Increase and empower individuals who are committed to building strong, trusting relationships, positive attitudes, through mentoring and social entrepreneurship.

The Organization collaborates with local USA organizations, UN agencies, international NGOs, and civil society in their efforts to achieve their goals with their programs and projects that their World Changers team facilitate.

Tristaca’s professional accomplishments include serving as a Family and Youth Peer Navigator working with organizations for Adoptions, Foster Care, Probation and Special Education. Certified in several mental health programs such as Mental Health First Aid, Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Next Level Leader, and more.

In addition to her work at NERDS RULE INC., Tristaca is currently the class of 2016-2017 attending University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Science for the Rise Urban Leadership Fellowship Program, on the San Diego Suicide Prevention Council, Suicide Prevention Council Faith Sub-Committee, Suicide Prevention Council Assessment & Evaluation Sub-Committee, member of the North County Philanthropy Council and Tristaca is a Resident Leadership Academy Facilitator.
