As the year draws to a close, it's hard to believe that 2024 is ending and the New Year is just around the corner. This time of year often brings mixed emotions—a bittersweet blend of joy, reflection, and perhaps some burnout. The whirlwind of holiday preparations, year-end work demands, and the anticipation of the “New Year, New You” mentality can feel overwhelming.
In this episode, I dive into the rollercoaster of emotions that December brings. Inspired by year-end Instagram reviews and my tradition of creating photobooks for my family, I share how looking back on memories can be a source of glimmers and gratitude. However, I recognize that not everyone has the same habits or resources to reflect on the positive, which can make this time of year challenging.
December is unique—it's a time of both winding down and ramping up. The holidays bring a special kind of enrichment through gatherings and celebrations, but they can also push us closer to burnout as we try to do it all. If you’re feeling the strain, it’s essential to reach into your “toolbox” of strategies to manage stress and find balance. Whether it’s journaling, practicing stillness, exercising, or seeking help, these tools can help you navigate the pressures of the season.
As we transition from the holidays to the New Year, many of us feel the pull of fresh starts, goal setting, and new routines. While it’s natural to feel this way, it’s important to manage expectations and avoid the societal pressures that come with the “New Year, New You” narrative. I encourage you to take a bird’s-eye view of the upcoming year, setting smaller, sustainable goals that span all 12 months instead of focusing solely on January.

This episode is a reminder to give yourself grace during this time. Listen to your body, reflect on your needs, and use the tools available to you. Whether you're wrapping up the year or preparing for the next, you have the capacity to succeed in your own way. Let’s embrace a realistic, empowered approach to closing out 2024 and stepping into 2025.
