The filling level of the gas storage facilities in Germany fell to 95.97 percent on Wednesday. That was 0.45 percentage points less than the day before. The stock of natural gas decreased to 236.2 terawatt hours. This emerges from data published by the European gas storage association GIE.
With the colder weather, withdrawal has accelerated overall. That's not unusual for this time of year. The filling level in the German gas storage facilities is still high. However, it is now well below the best values at a comparable time in previous years. This graphic also shows this.
The Federal Network Agency rates the gas situation as “stable” overall. Due to the forecast of lower temperatures for the coming days, the network agency upgraded one of its indicators for the gas situation to critical for the first time.
