Zoe Saldaña joked about not being impressed that she'll be 53 when the belated final 'Avatar' movie hits theaters.
Disney had previously delayed the release of the next three films in the hit sci-fi series.
'Avatar 3' is now scheduled for release on December 19, 2025 instead of December 2024 as previously planned, while 'Avatar 4' has been delayed to release on December 21, 2029 and 'Avatar 5' is now eight and a half years from now on December 19 2031, 22 years after the release of the first 'Avatar' film in 2009.
And the 44-year-old actress - who lends her voice to the role of Neytiri in the franchise - joked about how old she will be in the final film. Taking to her Instagram story, Saldaña said, "Great! I'll be 53 when the last avatar comes out. I was 27 when I shot the very first avatar." And Zoe's co-star Sam Worthington, who plays Jake Sully in the film, will be 55 by then. Disney had not previously confirmed the reasons for the delays, with Variety reporting that the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America in America, as well as production delays, have played a role in the setbacks.
