Recollect: Black Women Decolonizing thru Story & Nature

In this very special episode of Season 1 of Recollect, it is December 11th, 2021. It is time to manifest what we want in 2022. It is a strange and beautiful 72 degrees outside. I am with 6 Black women of ages from our twenties to our almost-sixties: Sister Asia, Sister Amber, Sister Gerty, Sister Carla, Sister Linda, and myself. We have walked in silent meditation on the land at Her Story Garden Studios in Hillsborough, NC. It is land I arrived on 19 years ago at 36 years old with a teenager by the hand and a toddler on my hip, a single Black lesbian who said, “This is where I’m supposed to be. I saw it in my dreams. I’ll buy it.” That didn’t make no damned since in the heads of my white neighbors who thought I believed wholeheartedly in the white superiority lie, a lie easily dispelled by nature’s truths and by the possession of a Black woman walking up and claiming where she wants to be and what she wants to do as if she doesn’t know to do any different. A lot of doubt has been in me since then, but what we all claim here is “No More Doubt!” The women and I walked in silent meditation. It is not disclosed here, but they shared what they wrote off in the woods in the process of noticing with their senses and reconnecting to the system of nature. The podcast is a peak into the energy of the sisterhood we formed around the fire. I share what I have written and prompted by Sister Linda and myself, we each share why we are glad we are here and what we intend to do now that we have Recollected ourselves.
