In the fifth episode, we focus on the Support. Don't Punish Global day of action 2022 on June 26th. This is the day when campaigners in all corners of the world mobilise to counter the harmful ‘war on drugs’ and the many systems of violence and neglect at its heart, and to build sustainable alternatives based on harm reduction and decriminalisation. We are proud to host Eevelyn Aba, National Secretary at SSDP Ghana, and Molly Ogbodum, student and activist at the University of Calabar, Nigeria, Vice President of SSDP UNICAL Chapter and The Harm Reduction Working Group Team lead at SSDP Nigeria. In the second part of the episode, we host Juan Fernández Ochoa, Campaigns & Communications Officer at the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC). In this role, Juan leads on the development of the “Support. Don’t Punish campaign” at the global level, and maintains and expands the internal and external communication channels of the IDPC network.
In this episode you will hear about:
▸ Main challenges that people who use drugs face in parts of Ghana and Nigeria
▸ How to organise a successful Support. Don't Punish local action
▸ History and origins of Support. Don't Punish
Sensible Drug Policy Show is a podcast created by Students for Sensible Drug Policy International where we share insights from young advocates at the forefront of local, national and international decision-making around drugs.
