Sylvia's Bio:

Sylvia Masters is a native of Houma, graduate of Nicholls State University, and a News Anchor at KLFY News 10 in Lafayette. The oldest of five children born and raised on the bayous in southeast Louisiana, Sylvia’s Louisiana roots and love for the state’s culture run deep.

Sylvia has traveled the state advocating for early cancer detection and cancer research in memory of her father. One of her first appearances was visiting the Louisiana Cancer Research Center in New Orleans for the Cancer Moonshot event hosted by Senator Bill Cassidy and First Lady Jill Biden. Sylvia got to speak with both about her father’s cancer diagnosis.

She has emceed many events, sang the National Anthem, rode in parades, read books to special needs students, helped the visually impaired community, and volunteered with animal shelters advocating for adoption and fostering of animals. Sylvia opens her home fostering puppies throughout the year. She is also an accomplished musician.

Sylvia competed for Miss USA in September 2023 in Reno, Nevada as Miss Louisiana USA… something she dreamed of since she was a little girl.
