In this inaugural episode, we turn the tables and interview Dave Quak, the founder of Sunburnt Souls; a podcast dedicated to the intersection between faith and mental health.

For over two decades, Dave has served as a pastor on the Gold Coast. While running youth ministries and planting a church, he was able to push through the early days of mental ill-health without really understanding the magnitude of his conditions.
Beyond his role as a pastor, Dave is a husband to Jess, and father to Milani and Josiah. Despite life in vocational ministry, Dave has not been immune to the challenges of mental illness. For years, he has grappled with depression and anxiety, navigating the complexities of living as a spiritual leader, while also contending with bipolar disorder.
Through Sunburnt Souls, Dave shares stories from his own journey, offering a candid glimpse into the highs and lows of life with bipolar. He sheds light on the realities of mental illness, sharing conversations of resilience, struggle, and the transformative power of faith in the face of adversity.
Although there is brokenness that sometimes clouds his life, Dave feels called to pursue intimacy with Jesus, and help others to do the same. Through his vulnerability and authenticity, he creates a safe space for listeners to explore their own experiences and find solace in the shared journey of faith and mental health.
