Berkeley Grimball and The Pod Heads, along with Rebecca Zapen will be featured in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Unity of St. Petersburg 6168 1st Avenue North.
The Pod Heads are a trio of musicians consisting of Berkeley Grimball who plays the pod harp, the pod cello, and instruments of his own invention; Tony Treadway on bass; and Raihan Alam on percussion. Their world best inspired sound has been described as “ hypno island “ and “deliciously avant-garde” with a repertoire that ranges from traditional Irish harp compositions to Afropop.
Unity of St. Petersburg’s music director Rebecca Zapen is a violinist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and educator. She studied violin at FSU under former New York Philharmonic concertmaster, Eliot Chapo. As an orchestra musician, she has backed artists such as Johnny Mathis, Indigo Girls, Trisha Yearwood, and Electric Light Orchestra.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
The doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for lite refreshments. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
