Tom McNab has enjoyed a long and successful career as an Olympic coach and novelist after starting out in athletics as a triple jumper. The former RAF Flying Officer's experiences also include preparing Great Britain's bobsleigh team for the Winter Olympics and England for the Rugby World Cup. He was also Technical Director of the Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire. In this episode, Tom talks to producer Alex Seftel about a time where there were no coaches in the UK, the idea of 'sliding doors' moments, and his emphasis on creative thinking. This is the introduction to a five-part special series for England Athletics, in which Tom sits down for conversations with coaches to discover more about their personalities, knowledge and expertise.
