Oxxo, a major convenience store chain in Mexico, has been forced to close numerous locations and gas stations due to escalating cartel violence and extortion. This situation has been particularly severe in states such as Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Tamaulipas, where organized crime groups have targeted these stores with arson attacks and threats.
In Irapuato, Guanajuato, armed gang members set around 20 Oxxo stores ablaze as part of coordinated terror attacks.
