In this episode, I interview Diane Liska and explore the benefits of somatic work in healing anxiety. Diane is a registered psychotherapist and certified yoga teacher. She’s currently in her advanced year of completing her Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certification and specializes in serving individuals healing from complex developmental and sexual trauma from a somatic and attachment focused lens.
In our conversation, we explore how somatic therapy can be a totally different lens for healing anxiety. She explains how somatic therapy can help enhance the mind’s connection with the body. It’s considered a bottom-up process where the work is with the body; the nervous system and the tissues - to help them have a different experience. This way, the brain starts to interpret experiences differently and we can rewire our nervous system and change the mind and body patterns associated with anxiety.
