We end Jess Byard July, this year all about surrealist films, with a look at one of the big boys of the surrealism film genre that also pays homage to one of the great literary novels, Brazil. Starring Jonathan Pryce as Sam Lowry, it follows his journey through the retro-future dystopian world that is as oppressive as anything Orwell could write. Along the way, he attempts to find himself and discover the meaning of his fantastical dreams. It's a film that stands alone as a fantastic re-imagining of a classic story while being its own thing.
