Periphery’s Misha Mansoor on The Quarantinecast #16
Manage episode 273977723 series 2802836
You’re quarantined, we’re quarantined, everyone’s quarantined, including all the metal musicians you love. In our new series, The MetalSucks Quarantinecast, we’re connecting with metal musicians in their homes to find out how they’re coping with isolation, how they’re staying busy during these trying times, and how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted their band’s plans.
This week we’ve got a whopper of an episode with Periphery’s Misha Mansoor. After a quick catch-up on the Bulb demos he’s releasing over the course of ten albums and a detour into what it means when we say a particular album is “my favorite” vs. “the band’s best,” we got into some pretty heady topics. The crux of the conversation centered around how bands are going to be able to survive an entire year (or more) without any touring income in the midst of a pandemic — as usual, Misha was very forthcoming about his band’s finances and his other personal streams of income — and how society at large is going to undergo a massive change in ways we don’t even understand yet. The Black Lives Matter protests had just taken over America in earnest at the time of this chat, so we spoke openly about our opinions on the murder of George Floyd, the state of policing in America, the protests, looting and more.
