The Re-entry Connect Podcast " Peer Re-entry Support" with Kurt Danysh
Kurt is the Founder and Executive Director of Tomorrow’s Neighbors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization he incorporated while still incarcerated, serving a 24 – 60-year prison term in Pennsylvania.
Since his release in 2020, Kurt has served on a variety of Committees and Boards across the Commonwealth. Kurt presently Chairs the Reentrant Committee for the Pennsylvania Reentry Council, Co-Chairs the Criminal Justice Action Team Committee for Heal PA, and serves on the Executive Committee of Cumberland County Reentry Coalition.
In 2022, Tomorrow’s Neighbors was awarded a $1 million grant from Cumberland County to Open The Cumberland House, a reentry housing solution that provides safe, supportive and affordable housing to 13 Reentrants in Cumberland County, Pa. The Cumberland House is presently being studied by Penn State University.
Kurt is a Peer Support Specialist, who has been trained as an Advanced Level Facilitator of WRAP (Wellness Recovery Actions Plan), in Crisis Intervention (CIT), Trauma, and Forensic Peer Support.
Kurt has identified five stages of incarceration, and developed Eight Steps to Successful Reentry, which can be utilized to significantly reduce the crime and recidivism rates in Pennsylvania.
